Did you use UA in your 1E games?

Yes, we used all the classes, races, spells, items, and whatnot. Never really had a problem with balance issues from any of it. I recall loving the new illusionist spells.

Even the Dark Elves and cavalier didn't cause much trouble. The RP problems one encountered while trying to play them were generally enough to scare off anyone with dreams of munchkin-dom or get the character killed before they got very far.

Except for the deep gnomes. Never saw anyone play one of those until 3e.

I used it for a bit, but not much stuck. I don't think I'd use it if I started a 1E campaign, today (edit -- I'd use some of the spells, though).

We definitely used it. Cavaliers, weapon specialization, increased level limits for demi-humans, barbarians, spells, magic items, Comliness, and even a few underdark PCs.

There were some things we didn't use as well such as making paladins a subclass of cavalier.

I think most things we used contributed positively to the campaigns we played, but there was a lot that was potentially problematic. For the most part, we didn't notice too much about out-of-whack game balance until much later as our experiences become more sophisticated.

I used all of it, at first. The spells were great, but everything else . . . blah.

I hated (and continue to hate) the new classes and races. And people think Great Munchkinism was a feat invented for 3e!

Yes.

I ran a game that ended up with two drow (remnants of a destroyed house who fled to the surface) and two outcast evil grugach wild elven assassin brothers. Got a lot of great flavor for those races in the game.

A couple players made svirfneblin and duergar for various games.

Used a lot of spells and magic items. Cantrips really added a lot of neat little effects for Magic-users to play with. I used a bunch of sepia snake sigils and stoneskin spells to good effect.

I played a barbarian once in a sort of rambo style character.

I liked the increased demihuman race limits because I always thought it would suck to be in a high level game and be done with advancement while everyone else continued.

The racial pantheon stuff and polearm pictures were great as well.

We played the new classes, we played the new races, we played the new spells, we played the weapon spec system, and the changes to the ranger. Heck we even ran a campaign with that 9d6, 8d6, etc. character generation system.

We used it all except for the "paladin is a cavalier" thing, which we found ridiculous.
