I despise football. I've also had my masculinity questioned over having absolutely no interest in sports, and cars, and other so-called "manly" Interests, so much so that I have grown to actively hate these things. I watched some of it last year, since the Steelers played in it, but normally I couldn't care less, and I feel that this "team spirit" and pride does nothing but give people more excuses to divide into groups to fight about, as if people didn't have enough lame excuses to hate each other already.

I've seen too many fights and arguments over which team can hurl which ball through which opening (paraphrased from Niles Crane) to like the stupid game, or any ball game (or even sport) for that matter.

This is just a sore spot with me. I hate sports.

Bad guess Droghtery. The superbowl is covered by most of the world and shown live in over a 100 countries.

There's a big difference between being shown live on the local equivalent of ABC/NBC/CBS/Fox and the local equivalent of Versus. And if live is the middle of the night, not many people are going to watch it.

Sleep is much more appealing than watching the world's slowest sport, where "running down the clock" is not only accepted but well nigh compulsory.

I didn't know you could run down the clock in golf, baseball, or auto racing (the world's actual slowest sports, at least, among those with a non-trivial following in the US). No clock to run down.

But it's certainly a standard tactic in soccer, hockey, and basketball (and most games with a clock).

You are such a girl. :p ;)

We played our weekly D&D game. We do that every year unless the Patriots are in the game. Even the player who normally misses the game on Super Bowl Sunday was here this time.

Normally I watch the Super Bowl while keeping occupied with something else. I watched it this year to see my Bears get destroyed. Truthfully, the game was the usual dud because of the endless commercial breaks, and the longer halftime show. The rain didn't help either since it seemed like two completely different teams were playing than were actually there. I mean, come on, the Colts running, RUNNING!, all over the Bears with Peyton getting MVP for 'managing the game'. At least the refs didn't decide the game this year like with the Steelers last year.

Oh, and if I had a regular group to play with, we, or I, would still miss for any Superbowl no matter the teams playing. It's just a communal event. So is gaming, but communal for completely different reasons.
