Me too. Other than Lord Vecna, Primus and Asmodeus are my favorite gods.

it would also be really awesome to see the phoenix, Cerberus, Fenris, the Titans, and other real mythological monsters. :)

From the description at Wizards' online store:

"Included are descriptions and statistics for over seventy gods from four fully detailed pantheons. Along with suggestions for creating your own gods, Deities and Demigods also includes information on advancing characters to godhood"

Since the description also says...

"The names of Pelor, Loki, Athena, Osiris, and their kind are invoked by the devout as well as the desperate."

...I think it's pretty clear what pantheons they are.

I believe someone involved in the project (the editor perhaps) has said that each deity gets at least a one page write-up.

Ah, so it's Greyhawk, Greek, Norse, and Egyptian pantheons. I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't try to cover all the pantheons from the 1e version, but perhaps with the guidelines I assume will be in this edition we can convert the missing pantheons to 3e.

The preview in Game Trade magazine showed the write ups as being somewhere around a page for each god. So, 70 or so gods. The balance of the book will hopefully include quite a few "suggestions" for creating one's own pantheons and a generous helping of artifacts and the like.

Unfortunately Boz-man, the aforementioned beings won't be in the new DDG. Not sure what WotC has planned for them (well, not entirely anyway), but DDG isn't part of the "master plan" :)

no kiddin. shucks. well, i'm hopin to see 'em in print sooner or later... of course scotty, you might just be able to help that process along. ;)

i don't think the chosen pantheons are bad choices at all, after all those three (plus oerth) are the most popular ones. :) and of course, you're right, we'll be able to convert the other gods by following the examples given in the DDG. :)

If you can tell by my name, I am really hoping to see the Yugoloth Lords, Demon Princes, etc... also. :D
I have heard that there will be some of those powerful creatures in there, can't remember if it was from an official WOTC source or not.

Has anyone heard if they will be deity level powers, being able to grant worshippers spells?

I'm kinda happy; the 1e & 2e books had a lot of pantheons, but you didn't have a tremendous amount of depth. Hopefully, DD will offer more. I suppose time will tell.

I wonder if we'll get a partial 5th pantheon as a web enhancement.

Doesn't mean that the various Planar Lords won't be in there.

I'm guessing it'll include the gods in the MM and PHB -- basically the list in the back of Defenders of the Faith. And, if they stay true to that, there will be a mention of many of the demon lords and devil princes.

In fact, if we stay with the idea they'll be doing the gods in Defenders of the Faith for the DDG (and that would be a safe guess, IMHO,) we've got:

Blibdoolpoolp: Kuo-toa goddess that hates surface-dwellers

Callarduran Smoothhands: Svirfneblin god that protects the deep gnomes.

Deep Sashelas: Sea elf warrior-god.

Diirinka: Derro god of magic

Eadro: Merfolk/Locathah watchful god.

Great Mother: Infamous beholder goddess.

Gruumsh: Orc-God-Dude

Hruggek: Bugbear sneaky-war god.

Kaelthiere: Evil fire goddess of salamander, efreet, and azer.

Kurtulmak: Kobold god guy

Laduguer: evil Duergar taskmaster

Laogzed: Troglodyte consuming-souls god.

Lolth: Creepy dominatrix drow chick.

Maglubiyet: Goblin/Hobgob god.

Merrshaulk: Yuan-ti poison snake guy

Panzuriel: Deep Aquatic Evil, friend of merrow, sahuagin, scrags, and kraken.

Sekolah: Sahuagin patron of sharkiness.

Semuanya: Lizardfolk survival god.

Shekinester: Tripple-aspected naga goddess

Sixin: Dual-aspected Xill god.

Skerrit: Sylvan centaur god.

Aasterinian (Dragon): Io's messenger, dragon-trixster, brass goddess

Bahamut (Dragon): Big arse LG dragon-god.

Chronepsis (Dragon): God of draconic death and lore.

Falazure (Dragon): Evil, undead death dragon dude

Io (Dragon): The Ninefold supreme dragon god.

Tiamat (Dragon): Nasty LE evil-dragon-goddess

Annam (Giant): Giant creator-god

Grolantor (Giant): CE hill giant god of dumb brutes

Hiatea (Giant): Nature-chick-goddess

Iallanis (Giant): Goddess of larger-than-man-sized gettin' it on.

Memnor (Giant): Evil god of trickery and rebellion

Skoraeus Stonebones (Giant): Stone giant god of rocks

Stronmaus (Giant): Storm-giant god of boisterous joy

Surtr (Giant): Fire giant-god of flamin' godliness.

Thrym (Giant): Frost giant-god of frosty magik.

Vaprak (Giant): Ogre god of frenzy & greed

Planar Lords (No Description Given):

Demon Princes: Yeenoghu, Alvarez, Alzrius, Baphomet, Demogorgon, Eldanoth, Fraz-Urb'luu, Graz'zt, Juiblex, Kostchtchie, Lissa'aera, Lupercio, Lynkhab, Verin, Vucarik.

Archdevils: Baalzebul, Bel, Belial, Dispater, Fierana, Glasya, Levistus, Lamagard, Mammon, Martinet, Mephistopheles.

Elemental Lords: Ben-Hadar, Chan, Imix, Ogremosh, Olydra, Sunnis, Yan-C-Bin, Zaaman Rul.

Then it mentions that there are "mighty celestials," "sladd lords," and something about formians, but doesn't detail any of them (likely a lack of space).

Hmmm....with such a great number, I wouldn't be surprised if we just saw a web enhancement with most of these a-la the FRCS supplement with all the "unpopular" deities.

Or they could probably weasel a second book out of it. Call it maybe "The Tome of Ascendants." :) If they don't do it, I might end up doing it. :)
