Different types of magic

s/LaSH: I wasn't comparing DBZ to Streetfighter. In fact, I prefer SF because its more realistic (if you can say that). ;)

Another magic style:

O Changling magic: This is magic where it only affects you. Think of Otto from Star Trek Deep Space Nine, but scaled down. Is probably way to over pwered for a non-Epic game though.

EDIT -----

O Dragon magic: Magic trying to emulate the abilities of dragons.

What? What's so unrealistic about a guy punching someone else and having the shockwave shatter geological features? Or blowing up planets as part of tactical maneuvering?

...

Yeah, you could actually do SF under d20. But even my wild imagination balks at the thought of doing DBZ in this way. I do have some interesting ideas for DBZ-esque battles that are going into my scifi d20 project, but that whole thing's weird and completely unbalanced in certain aspects. (Every race, including humans, would have some sort of ECL.) Which brings me tangentially to my next idea:

Psychic Power - not psionics! Something far more akin to The Land Of Mist by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (one of the sequels to The Lost World - go find a collection, there are several such stories and they're all good). A discipline involving more divination and travelling in strange dimensions. Akasic libraries, psychometric talent, and other stuff that's closer to the traditional view of psychic power. Here's an interesting tidbit: 'Psyche' means 'Soul' in the original Greek.
