Shame they didn't put the giant robots in it, though.....oh, well! We have a whole 13 episodes of a T.V. series ready to play this fall season!

No, no....there were giant robots in Dinotopia (the second book, The World Beneath), and flying trilobite jet things (in the third book, First Flight).

Its kinda like a short story with the narated children's book template, and a few levels in palientology...

The second anr third books were like children's books, but the first (as well as the second) was set up as Arthur Denison's journal(s). Gurney is an amazing artist, and he feels this need to put dinosaurs in his books that are real obscure, or at least known to fanatics.

What bothered me about the miniseries was that the kids accepted the talking dinos way too fast. I mean, c'mon, they're freakin' yuppie kids. I mean, I would be freaked out (for a whole ten seconds, but that's just me.....then would come the "Cool. So what do you do? You'realibrarian?That's great! Wouldyoulikesome.......tea?").

ya, there were certainly some mind-numbing sections, but the fierce creativity on the whole MORE than made up for it.

I sure hope the mini-series will be shown (not sure how the ratings were for the special)
