Dire Animals..... Why the odd advancement?

Sravoff

First Post
Why do the dire animals not seem to follow any specific advancement order? A dire bat goes from diminutive to large while a rat goes from tiny to small.
Does any one have an explanation to this or have a dire template?

Thanks

ormatA halfling priestof Nerull. :D

But really my proble is with the seeming random size they give to dire animals.

Why is the dire wolverine so much bigger than the wolf if it has less HD?
wolf:
........HD: 6
........Length: 9 feet

Wolverine
........HD: 5
........Length: 12 feet

Just seems kinda obsurd really......

UK has a very consistant Dire template in his bestiary, just released yesterday. I think it work quite well, and even covers the questions above (although he might've renamed the Dire Bat, "Brobdingnagian Bat" instead, it's still the same template and the name is just a flavor thing anyway).

Who wants to ride a rat? ;)

Taran, my halfling sewer druid rides one (he's in my sig, as well as the stats for Twitchy, who's an unmodified advanced medium Dire Rat.)
