Dire Pelicans?

Hmm, a real woodpecker's beak, while pointed, doesn't puncture the way a tooth or claw does, does it? I visualized it as more of a hammer, or partly a hammer.

My vote would be piercing damage, for a woodpecker's beak. It may not have the fine point of a claw or tooth, but it does taper to a point, and with that much force behind it...yeah, piercing.

Dire Hippo and Dire Skunk have already been done, in the Tome of Horrors dire conversion. I don't have the link.

I'd have to go with "piercing" too. Though not exactly arrow sharp, it is a pointed weapon. Much like mauls and such, they are not razor sharp, but do focus their energies to a narrower point.
