The articles they should be working on that don't go into the CB, should be articles that stretch the game by making better GMs and better players without going the route of crunch.
1. Talk about character archetypes.
2. Talk about character alignment and what it means in the game with lots of examples.
3. Talk about making a character background that ties into the campaign setting and doesnt' provide bonuses.
4. Talk about different playstyles and how to ask your GM to allow them.
5. Talk about how to design mechanics from the players side of things. I know I'm old but I remember you used to get XP for making spells in 2nd edition to help comp for the loss of xp from gold.
6. Provide character portraits. This used to be done back in the day and with the electronic art, should be able to not only provide a full color pic, but also one on scale meant for printing either as a stand up or as a flat 'face' counter.
7. Talk about Player 'Essentials' like bringing your own dice, having your own food, effective communication with a group in terms of letting them know you'll be late, etc... Things every 'standard' or 'adult' player takes into account as normal behavior that shouldn't be spelled out, sometimes... needs to be spelled out.
8. Talk about being a 'good' player in not trying to screw party members over for individual gain or... finding a group that matches your playstyle. It's great that GM guides talk about fitting in different play styles but at some point there shoudl be articles talking about the different play styles in terms of a player knowing what he wants out of the group and how his playstyle can effect that in a negative and either cutting back those qualitites that are damaging, or finding a group where those qualitites are welcome.
9. More detail about different GM types from a player's perspective. Heck, there are like 14 different player types mentioned in the Paizo GM book. While it's great to label the players, GMs have different styles too and nowing how to work with those styles can only benefit a player.
etc... etc... etc...
There is so much that could be written about that doesn't deal with that rules that it annoys me when they deliberately showcase rules not meant to be included in the CB.
