Okay I have a couple of questions for everyone...

1. Who is in a game which has stagnated, or stopped completetly, and might be interested in getting into something swifter paced? If you answer yes, what level is the character, etc. How often do you think you would post in a faster game accounting for normal schedule, etc.

2. How many active judges do we currently have? Should more be appointed?

3. Is this the place to propose an item for the judges to look at or do you need to email?

Item Proposal

Erf's Circlet of Leaves

A small darkwood circlet wrapped in living ivy, its only ornamentation a series of simple carved symbols each representing a season at four equidistant points.

Effect: The circlet extends the ability of a Forest Gnome to speak with forest animals to all animals, and allows communication as per the Speak with Animals spell, but only if that Forest Gnome is possessed of the Wild Empathy class feature.

Base Price: 1,800gp Creation: CL 1, Speak with Animals, Craft Wonderous Item, 900gp, 2 days, Creator must be a Forest Gnome with the Wild Empathy class feature.

Mechanics and basis:

I am basing this on the price of the Hat of Disguise which still seems to be at least as good and is certainly more sellable - though it should be noted Erf is unlikely to sell the item. According to the DMG a continuous or use activated item costs Spell Level x Caster Level x 2000gp. Which would equal 2000gp, the item has a significant requirement which should reduce the price by 10-30%. Since the hat appears to the aptest comparison I decided the same price would be appropriate.

In game terms this item would be used to add more flexibility to the use of summoned animals, and to communicate with Erf's beloved companion Fenenn. It will also serve to allow me to ignore the confusing mess that is the forest gnomes ill defined ability to speak with forest animals.

As for the item being enginered for the character, which it definetly is, it is far from unabalancing imo, cuts down on some frustrating aspects of the current system and could potentially make for some fun RP. Having an animal companion who can speak with its owner is really little different than a familiar, the animal is far less intelligent in fact. Erf is also crafting these items himself meaning he has expended a valuable feat slot.

1. -Kurgahz(a male Half-Orc 3rd level Cleric of Taurusk) is in "A Sojourn in Sairundan" Dm= Rae Argoth (note, if time and other XP is applied, could go to 4th level perhaps)
-Saithnar (a male Elan 3rd level Psion/Telepath) is in one of the mega-adventures "Blind Watchers of the Sylvan Shard" also DM'ed by Rae.

I would proably be interested in switching out if the whole group (or maybe a majority) did also. Wouldn't want to leave people high and dry. Would also help if the DM agreed to terminate the adventure to facilitate the switch with fewer hard feelings (assuming the DM can be contacted).

I would probably be able to post daily or every other day at the latest. Mostly at least.:o:angel:

2. Don't know on the judge numbers, I'm not one of them.

3. Well, looks like you don't need an answer from me on that! ;)

I think we're pretty light on judges at the moment. Several of them have either been absent for long periods of time or have said that they're stepping back from PbP commitments.

Gaius Corvinus is a level 2 fighter making his way back from the elemental plane of water after having been dropped there. On the other hand, Corvinus' player is a new father who is trying not to take on any more commitments. So, yeah. I'm probably not in. More's the pity.

Please note that I'll be travelling between November 10th and 23rd, so my post might become sporadic or non-existant during that time. Feel free to NPC.

Urgh, stupid auto-log-out happening so fast. Trouvere, did you receive my reply to your PM? It's not in my folders, but the inbox does say I replied.

Since it looks like we may recieve an influx of higher level characters to the tavern shortly - I hope so at any rate! - I am preparing a higher level adventure for PCs of around 9th-10th level. This would be a short vignette and would be at least partially tailored to the characters.

I don't pretend to be the worlds greatest DM, but I do post a great deal and will certainly continue to do so for the length of the adventure - you can take a look at Ends Meat for a sample.
