Yeah, OK, point taken.

Now, what about the question of timing of orders and deliveries? Upon further reflection, I think it's reasonable to expect that a PC has to be in Orussus to place an order with a crafter in Orussus. Of course, the PC might send a messenger with the order but that should probably entail some (nominal) messenger's fee - unless it were another PC placing the order on behalf of the first PC.

Tarag could take an order, either in person, or by messenger, from Elthic. If it's a straight cash transaction, he could go ahead and craft the weapon without Elthic being present. That's quite straightforward.

The situation becomes more complicated if the customer is contributing Craft Points. It would depend on how we interpreted Craft Points as to whether or not the PC would have to be present for the crafting process.

For example, I've interpreted Craft Points in Tarag's Forge as being physical labour. But say CP could be understood as favours or influence with suppliers to make available the raw materials in a timely fashion. Could that then mean that the PC could contribute CPs without being physically present?

CPs are in that case still a means to produce the item in question without expenditure of time units. They're just not tied to a PC's physical presence.

What's less clear to me is just how we justify the transaction being completed if the smith's not present in Orussus at the time.

So I guess I'm actually moving away from Wik's original suggestion, that we waive the need for either the customer's or the crafter's physical presence at any one time & place. But I really don't see why a customer couldn't send a long-distance order, which could be available when the PC returns (or, indeed, when the smith, having received payment, sends the item by return messenger!) It'd require the cooperation of the DM in the customer PC's adventure, but it should be possible.

A question: My character Ducane leveled-up mid-adventure, and I'm aiming at the Warmind prestige class. Warmind has a "Special: Must have had some instruction by another war mind." requirement to enter it.

There's probably no chance to deal with the requirement during the current adventure, but do I have to mind it if I just pospone leveling up until the adventure ends, or can I just make up stuff like "Ducane met this strange guy between his x and y adventures."?

Check out the adventure "Blood of the Werewolf". Partway through you'll find a scene in a "college" which provided warmind training to Bront's character, Juliana. Bront could tell you more, but I would think that providing some similar detail would meet the requirement. Would the other judges agree?

I agree. I would prefer to see Ducane find a teacher as part of an adventure, just as Juliana did. It makes for more intersting PCs to do it that way. Though, I suppose, if it doesn't fit in the current adventure, and you wanted to write something up yourself, you could add the details to your background & level up between adventures. I don't think you should be required to find a DM to do that for you.

If you want a *real* roleplaying challenge, try and get Julianna to teach you. That'd even be worth some xp, in the unlikely event you accomplished it! ;)

You can always postpone levelling up, no problem there unless I hand out enough xp to hit the "can't level up twice" barrier.

Yeah, I'd DM or judge that one!

I just noticed a new tavern thread: Edwyd's Victuals popping up, created by LogicsFate.
Did i miss anything? Is this part of an adventure?

Not at all, Mearran(my character) and anouther PC went to have a conversation away from the RDI. Read the first post for the jist. It's just place to talk other than the RDI and it's angry dwarves. :)

We've accually had a thread like it before for an adventure, and I thought it would be interesting to set it up for free use. Maybe it'll work, maybe it'll have no interested people after the first two.
