a couple thoughts:

1)You might also want to concider having a DM attached to each tavern, to handle the comings and goings there.

2) you might want to have Ye old bullitin board. For DM's to post hooks for thier adventures. You could give it it's own OOC thread or what ever judge starts the tavern thread could use the first post as the BB and edit in new hooks as they are proposed in the DM's thread.

3) The Tavern DM might also handle other "in town" actions. Such as buying goods or lifting the purse off someone in the market. It'd be a decient amount of work, but it would allow for sort of mini adventures to happen in town with indiviuals and groups.

Wow, this thread is growing like mad!

The every judge a god pantheon sounds neat. It would create a less structured pantheon, which gives it a more natural feeling, but we should be carefull we got most niches covered (each alignment appearing at least once, etc). I wouldn't be surprised if Pantheons ended up requiring a thread of their own.

There might be a basic shop right next to the tavern, but other than that, the best thing to handle in town stuff is as normal adventures, though they might be shorter than usual.

We don't have a dicerolling bot here, so whenever action occurs within the tavern, a judge would have to step in and roll dice once all involved players stated their actions. Or perhaps a DM, but a list would have to be made about allowed DM's, since going through the approval business for that kind of stuff seems awkward.

I'm not gonna DM (at least not early on), but I might wanna be a Judge.

For psionics, I think there are 3 valid options:
- Go exactly with the PsiHB, how unbalanced it might be.
- Make a detailed and complete list of balance changes to the PsiHB. Everyone needs to resort to this list. The list needs to be practically done before we set off, which can be a lot of work.
- Do not use Psionics.
When Psi 3.5 comes out, we can consider if we swap over or not.

Graf> The idea is that the world forms as we go, so any major details, such as the 3 cities would really be hampering later on.

I don't think it would add that much if the different subspecies of Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings were added. Orcs, Goblins and Kobolds are also LA 0, and maybe it's interesting to add some of those, so there's some savage characters around, but I personally wouldn't miss them if they weren't there.

Heh, nice use of the War3 World Editor.

An interesting idea, alas I don't have the time right now -- and EN World access is quite shaky those days... Maybe later.

Hmm... I was thinking about how games would start, and what cs and others have said. I'm thinking that adventures would fall into one of two categories...

1) DM Inspired
This would be a game where a DM thinks up a storyline and a plot, and gets the approval of the judges and whatnot. After that, it's up to the DM to introduce a hook in whatever Tavern to attempt to attract players.

For instance, the first game that will be run will probably be of this type. The DM will post something that will be an entry hook into the adventure, and then runs the takers through his/her adventure.

2) Player Inspired
This would be a game that is inspired by a player. My earlier example of Zappo the Mage is such a thing - a player decides that they need to do something, and may (or may not) recruit others to help them, or recruit others specifically to perform the task they need. Before the idea can be brought forth, though, Zappo's player needs to get approval of the judges, and should probably look into finding a DM, though the DM's intervention isn't really required until Zappo gathers a group of adventurers.

One thing, apparently people havn't been paying attention about Psionics and all the other things that will COME LATER. I am not concerned with those things right now. I want a structure, and I need to gauge the needs of this type of game. Once I'm satisfied, we can start adding to the setting.

Judges can run PCs, yes, but they are still subject to all the normal rules.

Uriel_fire_of_Heaven, Want to join the judges table? I know you have a good amount of experience with the forum, so, if your up for it, want to?

Graf, what you said would probably work against the style of the game. It leans towards disattachment of the setting, fragmenting it. The goal is to make the world stable in and of itself, not some conglomeration of mini-worlds.

Sir Osis, #2 was already in my mind, but #1 and #3 make sense generally. I'm going to try and keep it limited at first.

Thels - yep, I've found a bunch of ways to use that thing...

This is really growing fast. Only problem I can see right now.

Clerics. There is no Pantheon at the moment, so Clerics made will HAVE to be "Godless" and then just hope to jump into a God. This isn't a huge problem, but it could become a bit of an annoyance, since some players design Clerics AROUND a God.

Oh, and I got the first character made. Nyyyyaaaah! :D

Give me an hour or two an I'll toss out my Avatar-Diety to add to Creamsteak's. That'll help some, at least.

Oh this is a cool idea. I'll play! I'll Play! I can already see how this will be awsome. And as to being a DM or Judge, I dont feel up to the responsibility, but I will glady help add things (like adventures and maps and NPCs and such).

Oh dear I think that may mean me (went with a merchant god). I hope that I don't cause too mush trouble by assuming a God, I guess I could re-do my character if it is too much of a problem :)
