I think the only thing we are waiting on is a clear process to make each adventure follow as many of the same guidelines as possible to promote balance. I bring up again the dice rolling issue, who awards the exp., treasure rewards and magic items.... you don't want one DM to be very liberal with magic items or exp otherwise players might always try to get on those adventures.

Some ideas for keeping track of things -

1. Living Enworld - "City X Times" or something thread? The judges could post important events, players could post "looking for x" messages, etc. w/o too much added ot the other threads. Important news could be sticky'd - a one-stop news thread.

2. A calendar - maybe some sort of default timeline - say 1 realtime week = 1 living enworld day for posting, outside threads can track their own time but stay somewhat consistent? That way, all posts w/ activity for one week will happen on the same living enworld day? If this grows beyond the 30-odd involved now, it'll start getting tough to keep track of who's where when.

Just a couple thoughts.

Thats a really great idea, but like you said I think it could really easily get out of control with outside adventures alrering the loop. For example if I run a short adventure that has a group bring in a shipment from another town back to the bar, and in game time it takes 2 weeks, but in real time it only takes a month, what are those characters supposed to do for the next ten weeks while the rest of Enworld "catches up to them" any adventures that start out would theoreticly be heading out while they were getting the shipment, and this would make things more life like, but its just a long time to wait.

IMO, the DM should always roll the dice. That way, there's no question as to whether or not someone is cheating.

Does that hurt the DM? Maybe. I know I've sometimes been caught in situations without dice... however, there are online dice generators.

For things that the DM isn't really involved in (hit points, for example), use the average rules in the DMG. For instance, if a character has a d6 hit die, they get 3 hp, then 4, then 3, then 4...

Treasure and magic items, I don't know how cs wants those handled.

That's an excellent idea, I approve. :) Basically a classifieds section for living enworld.

I agree with Casar on this one... this could get too bulky, and could leave people out of the game for long periods of time. IMO, having realism is good... but too much, well... too much of a good thing can be bad for you. ;)

Casar, good points - there's a dice roller here that's worked for other games I've been in. Don't ask me about legality or anything - I just use it.

Just curiously, is anybody working on the guidelines? There are the DMG guidelines on treasure - sticking to those should keep things pretty clean.

Good point. My thought was the judges could adjust time to get things on track for that party, but that does get a tad confusing . . . Well, as long as somebody's in charge, everything will work out!

I prefer here. It's come through for me many times in the Psionicle when I was at school with no dice handy...

Hmm... I'd recommend leaving that to cs, or leaving it to whomever cs appoints.

Just wanted to mention something that I brought up earlier: is there any way to have an index of approved characters at the begining of the RG Character Thread? That way a DM can quickly make sure that all of the characters are Living Enworld Standard. Just a thought.
Also, I still think that A Living Enworld FAQ, or some other such easy iintroduction, woul be very useful. I can even put it together if you like, just compiling all of the imporatnt tid bits of information on how Living Enworld will be run into one easy to use document for the incoming players.
