And the first successful financial transaction goes to Velbrik rather than one of the two or three merchants/con men. :D

I presume chess would exist, but it would take a long time to play a game unless you made it an opposed skill check or something.

true... i'd call it a knowledge (games) check, so basically an inteligence check... Or one would just compare inteligences, seing as it is a game of SKILL, not luck...

a party of Troi, Zoe, Felix, Thungar, Grak, Velbrik and Telerin

Since this is very likely our first adveturing group, i thought that i'd quickly mention that all of these characters except Grak are fine as posted, and that Grak needs only minor changes (he hasn't spent all his skill points). Good luck to our first adventurers.

Just wanted to mention something that I brought up earlier: is there any way to have an index of approved characters at the begining of the RG Character Thread? That way a DM can quickly make sure that all of the characters are Living Enworld Standard. Just a thought.
Also, I still think that A Living Enworld FAQ, or some other such easy iintroduction, woul be very useful. I can even put it together if you like, just compiling all of the imporatnt tid bits of information on how Living Enworld will be run into one easy to use document for the incoming players.

With the board problems today, I've had a heck of a time getting up to speed. I'll take this one first, but I don't think I'll be able to answer every question that's come up.

I'm not aware of a way to add a new post to the beginning of the thread. Good idea, but I don't kow if it's feasible.

The FAQ is a good idea. Fell free to write one up. I'll take a look at it when I get a chance and sticky it.

Thanks!

I'm back, and wow... crashed boards, posts caught in an incredibly evil time warp... and now I finally can post...

I'll catch up in a bit, but I've got some stuff to point out first that I should have warned Gary about earlier.

1) When we post important information that judges would collect (for instance, your posts in the pantheon thread) we need a seperate nickname that all the judges can log on under. That means that the name and password would be known to Uriel, creamsteak, Garyh, and anyone else as time goes on. That makes changing information much easier for everyone.

That's a good idea, creamsteak. I figured you could edit my posts if need be, but I didn't realize that other Judges should be able to as well. Should someone perhaps re-create the existing Judge-ish threads with a Judge account and then close the old threads? As for account name, how 'bout: Living Enworld Judge . Seems straightforward enough. :)

I am curious at to when the adventuring will begin ?
As I stated earlier I can DM also if need arises, just let me know...
im currently playing torindel the tall" in red dragon tavern so i could "jump in" and get my feet wet

this looks to be the makings of something really cool...i cant wait!

Is there any info about getting a new board? If so, all judges would be modertor on that board and the problem is solved (Macbeth could even use CS' post at the beginning of the thread and being able to delete all comment posts once he read them).

I agree with Cesar that it should be the judges who handle XP. Also, I think when a DM wants to lead an adventure, he has to tell the judges beforehand what most powerfull items the party could find. If the judges think they're too weak/strong, the DM could alter them.

Half hp/level, rounded down at even levels, up at odd levels sounds good. Keeps dicerolling for players to a zero.

Chess IS a game of skill and brains, not luck. Someone who studied it is probably better at it, so if there was a knowledge (games) skill class, it would probably be used instead, but I don't think anyone would spend points on that.

Hmm, male characters only?

If someone IS going to make a FAQ, it might be a good idea to reserve the 1st post for all the links to the various threads.

I am a fan of the 3/4 HP that many of the PbP games use, personally.

D4=3
D6=4
D8=6
D10=7
D12=9

It's not perfect, but it helps with survivability without being over the top.

Regarding XP, I think that the DM should give XP based on challenges overcome and goal/agendas achieved within the context of the adventure, perhaps with Judges awarding Roleplaying XP bonuses.

Garyh, I've tried emailing you several times, and my emails keep bouncing back at me, so...

Did you have a start date for the adventure that you were thinking of doing?

Graf has one as well, and I can start one.

Matter of fact, I think I'll go and post something to get this ball rolling...

EDIT: Posted an adventure, it should be very obvious which is the adventure and which two are the 'those don't sound like good choices' posts...<Pst! Door number three!>.
A group from 4-6 is preferable.

To the players, there should be at least 2 others adventures posted soon.

I need to get my PC posted, how's that gonna work, CS? SHould we Judges have characters? I guess you or Garyh could mod a game I was in and vice versa. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Oh, and WOOHOO!!! Someone took a Cleric of my DEITY! :D

I know this is relly annoying at this point given taht it may be likely an adventure is about to happen but could I retool my charactera s a mage (but still a believer of the trade God). I ask as my character concept was to be a mage/cleric/mystic thrurge concentrating on item creation but I don't think that it's really a viable build (now that i've considered it) because of lack of feats and a very low spell penetration against SR.

Also my character seems a little too mercenary now I've strated playing him to be a devout cleric (even for a mercenary god)

If I do it straight away is this acceptable?
