Okay, then! :) Glad that it could get approved.

Macbeth - thanks for your approval and interest. Hopefully it will live up to your expectations. :)

Gary - I missed that note... I've been sick since late Friday, so I haven't been on much. :(

I'll get the adventure introduced as soon as possible...

Just wondering if my e-mail of info about Ravendsale made it to the judges. I know I had a problem when I first tried to send it. Let me know if you didn't get it and I need to resend it
I Definitely havn't gotten the email either time. No clue about other judges.

Also, can I get some kind of idea on how the judges feel about my feat? I hate to be a bother about it, but... I would really like to know what the general feeling towards it is, at the moment. ;)

How I feel about it...

I'm not fond of whips dealing damage. I'm also not fond of whip daggers. I am fond of the concept of weapons that deal "castlevania" style whipping...

I think that your feat fills a mechanical gap, 1d3 damage being absolutely crappy, but personally I'd rather see a feat that allowed you to deal 1d6+strength damage with a whip (exotic weapon proficiency (whip), expertise, Point Blank Shot (if it affects whips that is, I'm unsure on this point) and Dex and Int 13+ required). This damage would not be negated by natural armor, or normal armor for that matter except with AC and normal means.

... I'm not sure how others would feel about that, but that has been my take on getting what you want out of the game. It might not be exactly right, but it's what I was thinking along the lines of.

Tack on weapon finesse as well if you feel it is proper. What do you think, GW?

Um... well...

Are all those requirements for the feat?

exotic weapon proficiency (whip), and Dex and Int 13+?

Point Blank Shot doesn't affect whips, so that's what it would be.

For dealing d6, and ignoring natural armor and armor.

To be honest, CS, I had thought that getting through armor and natural armor would be the base feat, then have another for dealing more damage with the whip, then have another to allow you to threaten out to your reach with a whip (since whips don't have threatened areas), and another to allow you to attack with a whip without drawing an AoO.

I personally think that having a chain of feats that tie into whips would be rather neat, and I plan on eventually starting a guild of some kind for those that want to specialize in using whips.

So I think I would prefer to keep my feat the way it is, but... it's your call. I think Weapon Finesse should be a requisite for the base feat, regardless of what it turns out to be, but that's just me.

I like the Warcraft RPG version a bit. I'm not sure if that is Open Game Content. Can someone with the book go to the back pages and look at the section (probably 7 or 8 in most books, IIRC) that states what is Open Game Content?

If not, we might borrow it anyway, but OGC is always preferable.

As far as the whip goes, I'd like to see some other judges comments on the matter. Simply being able to pierce armor and natural armor with a whip doesn't feel natural to me, as I said. I feel like there should be something 'else' involved, not just pure technique.

Intelligence 13 comes from expertise as a requisite (and shows that you couldn't use the technique while raging). Dexterity 13 was from point blank shot, which doesn't affect whips (though I was unclear on that at first), so that requirement would be removed.

I see Expertise as being requisite (and somewhat desirable) because it is part of improved trip/disarm which are critical whip skills at times (maybe not so much in 3.5 though). Weapon Finesse is a common whip skill, but it also seems to me like a Finessed weapon doesn't work quite right with ripping through natural armor normally.

I'll defer for now until I get some other Judges opinions (and the opinions of other players as well, they're always welcome).

My opinion on the whip feat: it looks great. I've aways liked the whip for style but hated it for game mechanics. I was also kind of suprised to see a character with whip proficiency, but having a feat to make it deal normal damage would make it more reasonable. If i get around to setting up a char for myself I may be the first follower of the Delmontes style.
