Perhaps this feat could go a little like this:

Delmontes Technique: Piercing Whip [General]
You are so skilled in using a whip, that you can find chinks in almost any armor and strike there with enough force to deal damage.
Prerequisites: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Whip), Weapon Finesse.
Benefit: When using a whip, you can deal damage to opponents with up to +4 armor or +6 natural armor. Your damage with a whip is increased to 1d4.
Normal: Without this feat, you can't deal damage with a whip to opponents with an armor bonus of +1 or higher or a natural armor bonus of +3 or higher.

Followed by...

Delmontes Technique: Advanced Piercing Whip [General]
You are so skilled in using a whip, that you can find chinks in any armor and strike there with enough force to deal damage.
Prerequisites: BAB +4, Delmontes Technique: Piercing Whip, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Whip), Weapon Finesse.
Benefit: When using a whip, you can deal damage to opponents regardless of their armor or natural armor. Your damage with a whip is increased to 1d6.
Normal: Without this feat, you can't deal damage with a whip to opponents with an armor bonus of +1 or higher or a natural armor bonus of +3 or higher.

Followed by...

Delmontes Technique: Whip Mastery [General]
You have mastered the art of using a whip in hand-to-hand combat.
Prerequisites: Delmontes Technique: Advanced Piercing Whip.
Benefit: When you use a whip in combat, you no longer provoke an attack of opportunity for using it when in a threatened space. In addition, you now threaten the area you can reach with a whip.
Normal: Using a whip in a threatened space provokes an attack of opportunity, and you don't threaten any area while wielding a whip.

...thoughts?

Hmm... does that fall under the "don't post twice in a row" concept? I posted a post containing a vague idea, then followed it up almost immediately with a post in the exact same vein, albeit in a lot more detail.

If it is, sorry about that. I was quoting gary's revisions of the feats, and writing up the new one to show how it fit in and compared, or whatever. If it isn't, well... then ignore me. :)

Sounds alright to me.

In that case, it is most probable that I'd like the third Delmontes technique feat to allow you to threaten the area you can reach with the whip and also not provoke an AoO when attacking with a whip.
At first it seemed like that would be kind of strong, but when you think about it, that just makes the whip into a reach weapon that you can make really good trip and disarm attacks. Overall, while at first it seems strong, I think that would probably work, but I'm just one judge, lets see what the others think.

I think it works. And consider this: It requires EWP: Whip, WFin: Whip, Expertise, Del: PW, and Del: APW. This thing requires 5 prereq feats. I should be strong. :)

Other than personally feeling that Feats should be developed by characters higher than Level 1, I think that it is fine.

You can't create a feat till level 3 at least currently.

So... Do we actually have any guidelines for creating new feats, prestige classes, spells, magic items, monsters, etc...?

And might it possibly be a propitious time to determine the process for creating level-adjusted races?

General guideline: make a proposal to the Judges.

Specifically - hey, we don't even have PC's coming back from the first adventures yet! :)

Yeah, but I just had an inspiration for a 'Halfling Sneak' PrC.

Abilities might include such things as... Perpetual Sneak, Hurried Sneak, Inconspicuous Sneak, Blatant Sneak and (of course) Sneak Attack.

...And, just to throw another thing out there, the topic of character created towns/cities/nations interests me (I know it's been talked about, but I'd like to talk about it futher).

If by that you mean player (created by you) towns etc... just submit ideas to the Living Enworld email or Yahoo group already mentioned in this thread by Macbeth.

If, on the other hand, you mean that these places were created by your starting character, might I suggest a 3,000 point Champions game instead? (That was a joke, btw...I'm sure some of you<Argent>,cough, would gleefully submit a 3,000Pt Champions character<Argent> just for the joy of watching my face turn as blue as my hair...

Here's another thought... Do we want a separate, dedicated thread for discussing and creating these new feats, PrCs, etc?
