Looks to me like it's Knight Otu's choice (assuming that he could get the new spell(s) proposal approved either way).

If he doesn't mind the new spells being available to anyone, he doesn't have to research them.

If he wants them to be exclusive to his character (and only those who independently research them, are taught the spells by his character, or who sneak a peek at his character's spell book), then his character has to research them.

Question regarding XP/month...

Troi didn't get any XP for RL months that passed for any adventure prior to the last one. I'm going to edit this post with what I think is accurate for time-based XP gained, so could I get a judge to check my numbers and confirm that I'm correct? Thanks! :)

Trek to the Vinyards: 3 months (August, September, October), 300 XP

To Delmon's Aid: 3 months (October, November, December), 300 XP

Feral Smackdown Battle Royale: 2 months (December, January), 200 XP

Total: 800 XP

iirc, it was explicitly deemed to be non-retroactive. at least I think thats what was said when I brought it up in regards to a couple of my characters who completed adventures prior to the implementation.

I thought that was meant for the modification to the rule (50 XP/level per month), not the original rule... the original implementation was in use, I believe, back when Troi just started adventuring. There was at least talk of the idea.

I think it was planned, but never implemented. If all players who were around then (and are around now) tell us which adventures they were involved in that did not give time-based XP, that would help.

Lonesoldier, if you're reading this, it seems you missed the fact that your character has been approved!

afaik, the Hunting Trip vingette and the monestary based feral hunt didn't get time based xp.

Rules question: Since my Wizard character has bought some scrolls, how are we going to handle the Spellcraft check needed to scribe spells into spellbook? Do I use the Dice Roller Gnomeworks used, or can one take 10 (and thus succeed automatically)?
Wow you have the 100gp/spell level/spell needed to write those into your book, my character is 4th level and have 51gp in coin to his name. Course his magic stuff is nice and all, but he needs money!

I would think that you need to roll and that using that dice roller and a post in this thread would cut it.
