I third that: The ring casts invisibility on you, the area dispel dispells it (if you're lucky), but you can just use the ring again.

Someone on rgfd pointed out that magic items in D&D produce spells or spell-like effects; it's on p.214 under "Saving Throws Against Magic Item Powers". I'm still not entirely sure that's meant to be definitive, but I'll take what I can get. So, in a nutshell, dispel magic would still work.
