Indeed. And I think what he's getting at is that a god can know anything - the only limits being what the DM has bothered to jot down him as knowing (you know, for our respective sanities. It'd be hard to write an actual list of everything gods know, after all.) Ergo, with that in mind, gods in his campaign "know what they know," to use your phrasing - which doesn't in any way reflect on his capabilities as a DM. (The big difference here is just how you see dieties. Core rules, it's up to your interpretation. RAW, including Dieties & Demigods, they do know certain defined things... but I've got a feeling that there are a lot of people, like myself, who won't touch that book with a ten-foot pole.)

Yeah. But that is DM who decides the limitation of knowledge of any being, including deities, in one's campaign. So, for example, if a DM decide to use Seeker of the Misty Istle, prestige class, even Corellon may not know where to find the lost istle.
