Divine Power excerpt: Feats

Hmmm, I just noticed the lack of race prerequisite feats in the list. Do you think:

1. The list of feats is not complete.
2. WotC has decided that feats with class and race as prerequisites are too specific and has decided to stop using them.
3. WotC is saving them for the race books.

These are paragon feats, Arcane Power had no Race and class specific feats at Paragon, so I wouldn't assume there aren't any in Divine Power ... more that they are just at Heroic tier.

Paragon feats?! Oh cruelty, thy name is WotC. How you tease us so!

I'll admit, my eyes skipped over that fact when I first glanced at it on the first viewing. ;)

Ah well, only a couple weeks until I have it in my hand to play with (I'm talking about the book, thank you very much! :) )

Persistent Challenge = Feat tax. That engagement clause should've been errata-ed out a long time ago. The only reason it exists is because of an obnoxious strategy used at DDXP 08 for a poorly designed encounter.

It might be fair to wait to see the whole text of the feat before calling it feat tax.

Based on what's written here, I don't view it as feat tax - but that opinion is based on the little blurb and the fact that I don't have a problem with the engagement clause to begin with.

Yeah, but multi-classing introduces a feat tax loophole: instead of getting a brief 1/encounter Mark (like the Fighter multiclass feat grants), the multiclass Bard / Sorcerer / Warlock can have an encounter-long debuff.

If all feats were equally available, different builds of the same class would look far mroe similar than they do now.

I don't think that would be the case - at the moment all builds of a class for a given race look very similar because they don't have many good choices (sometimes it seems there is only one or two good choices tops). There might be a slight difference when different races are involved, but frankly I find the racial powers and stuff makes for a big enough difference anyway.

At the moment, I see all builds of a class (within any given race) look very similar. Having 8 extra feats per class for all members of the class would allow much more variety than 1 extra feat per class/race, surely?

Cheers

But the argument before was that race didn't matter there was no reason to choose one race over another save for stat bonus and people complained that what race you were never felt important after 1st level.

Now there are still choices to be made and things that effect your character determined by your race even into paragon levels.
