AI/LLMs DLSS 5 will be the worst thing to EVER happen to video games

I can't really believe anyone would use and overtly and deliberately sexist example as a defence of this tech and expect it to come off well meaning. It's a fairly poor choice on tone alone. Not to imply that anyone is being sexist as I can't speak to that but the comparison between these things is pretty obvious and it's not something I think is in good taste in general terms.

I think you’re confused here. I’m talking about Aloy’s before image. The after clearly has cosmetic as a joke.

No, you clearly don't know the full story behind that image. The afterward isn't a joke, it's something someone actually made because that's what they wanted to make Aloy look like. Your attempt at making a comparison ("Oh, it would be like saying Aloy was wearing makeup in the before because she has rosy cheeks!") misses that the doctored photo's coloring comes off very much like how Grace does in DLSS5, especially the more fully-colored lips. It's like you tried to make a comparison and, in doing so, used the comparison that everyone on the internet is using in the other direction.

Game developers put waterline liner on Grace and Aloy in their games. That’s the original vision. I’m just saying Aloy canonically wearing liner makes sense.

Yeah, but there's a difference in level that makes it stand out, in the same way it does in the two Aloy pictures, which fundamentally changes how it works with the character.

I’m going to have to ask you to do me the courtesy of not skimming my posts if you want to reply.

I didn't skim your post, I just find the argument bad.

Meanwhile, millions of people in Iran and Ukraine are like, "DLSS 5...what? Is that a new kind of drone? By the way, have you seen the man in this photo? It's my brother, he's missing."

I read your post. You posted the Aloy image made as an example of what women in games "should" look like because the creator of said image felt she was far too masculine. As was the explicit stated intent of its creation. If you don't like what that says about your argument pick more thoughtful examples of it.

Yeah, it's just a really bad example to bring to an argument about DLSS5 looksmaxxing characters.

Edit: Like, this was one of the first jokes people were making about it.

Grace and Aloy in these three images are wearing eyeliner. Neither are wearing lipstick and blush.

Do you not understand the very pedantic point about makeup I’m making?

Sure. :sneaky:

Do you not understand the very pedantic point about makeup I’m making?

I can't stress enough that we do understand your point, we just don't agree and seemingly most people don't agree with you. It's kind of like how you repeat Bethesda's assurances about Heller's hairline like Bethesda is a company worth taking their word at when it comes to fixing an issue: you can do it, but generally speaking you probably shouldn't if you want the point to be taken seriously.

This is what obvious cosmetic product looks like, and is not what DLSS 5 turned Grace into.

I mean, you can keep repeating that as much as you want, but at a certain point you might have to accept that people just don't agree with you, and in fact a lot of people disagree with you. Like, you seemingly don't understand why these people are making the comparison here.

Ohhhh. This isn’t a good faith debate. Sorry, I get it now.

Bye.

What do you want me to say? You're disagreeing with something that most people honestly disagree with you. Your point doesn't carry the way you think it does and you keep trying to explain it as though you think you're going to suddenly convince us and the rest of the world on the matter.
