DM personal training

You would have to come up with one of those color coded test first: you are a green DM, or a red one, or a blue...Once that is done you will know what direction to go to. :D

Well, I rather think the thing here is that players are experts in what they like and don't like in a game. So at least you can glean that.

I think the problem is that it's real difficult to get honest and useful feedback from players.

This is true...player will say they are having a good time but their actions say different and what they say away from the table can be harsh.

I was not really joking about on the matrix/color code thing, IF you could define and rank elements of DMing it could help.
