DM really messing up our party

Well- actually Saracek doesnt gain the standard skeletal immunities to weapons, but he does have damage reduction. :D

oops - just checked this out again, you, of course are correct. DR 15/+1.

Whaaaat? CR11 and no skeletal immunities?

Sheesh, I would have never dared to insult Necromancergames of creating weak monsters, but this is ... clearly a mistake ;)?

:) Well, the skeleton warrior is in the Tome of Horrors, and I believe this "oversight' was corrected. :)

And the DR didn't help him against GMWed arrows...

But still I think: Your DM was nice not to kill off the whole party at once.

Agreed. Saracek is a very, very tough/bad dude. A 5th-level party will have their hands full with him.

Didn't you meet some guys who warned you or heard rumours about him?

Or the warning in the runes on the door perhaps? :) Or the Knowledge check to recall who exactly Saracek was.

Soo glad you give us sooo high quality products ;)

Sounds like the group played too much Diablo2?

Go in, bash, gather treasure/XPs, get out to shop?

Ok, this was not nice. Sorry.

Grazzt: No wand and no higher spells? And thanks for the death knell info... my players will thank you on their knees next time :D (priest and k.o. mage with colour spray and sleep plus hidden archer with sneak attacked rapid shots encounter coming their way...)

Shall they offer a virgin or is a bull enough?

Huhm, hehehe!

Should have sent my Diablo style group into that dungeon before I stopped playing with them :D

That would have been fun! (for me!)

"No sorry, here read his stats. It's correct!" Hihihiii!

first off.
The DM has his rights to rule 0 anything he doesn't like, but it doesn't make him any better if he doesn't know the rules well. It may be that you have to discuss with him and list down every single rules changes he envisioned for his game. Once you get the Ring of the ram, use it like he does and see how he likes it.
THERE IS NO RULE OR FEAT THAT ALLOWS YOU TO USE A RING TO DO AN AoO.

second: apparently from what I've read, your other players are reincarnated from chickens. Best bet is, you can stay friends with the, but to further your own imagination and enjoyment, look for a higher reincarnated crowd. Maybe along the lines of dogs. At least they will be loyal to each other.

Just my opinion.
You do have only one life, why suffer through endless trials with one group when you can find satisfaction in other groups.

Sounds to me like the DM was "ad libbing" his way through this. Saracek the Fallen has no "instant death/no save" attack. And he cannot raise a corpse as undead either.
I'm guessing the "screw you" thing was just a coup de grace, since the character was at -1 HP. I'm not familiar with the adventure, so beyond that I dunno.

It sounds like all around mediocre play by all involved, Kai Lord, his fellow players, and the DM.

Hey, it happens to the best of us. Better to laugh it off and move on.

Okay, the second time Big S was encountered HE AMBUSHED US!

We were at the stairs to go down to another level and we heard sounds coming from down the stairs.

Then we needed to make Will saves against fear.
This time everyone made it. Then Bam Flamestrike and the next round was Cloudkill.

Up to and including cloudkill we thought the effects were from the next level downstairs. We ran into the hallway to ESCAPE the cloudkill and whatever it was we thought was downstairs.

What we ran into was 6 ghouls, a Barbarian named Marek, and Big S. Ghouls & Barbarian on 1 side of the hall and Big S on the other.

We were in it thick. We didn't run away becuase we thought Big S would have been weakened from the previous fight. I managed to Turn the Ghouls and 1 member went after the Barbarian. I stayed in the middle of the hall shooting arrows at Big S. Another fighter went in to grapple him to keep him from using the wand any further. Didn't help much. Another member was trying to figure out how to use a Staff of the Woodlands to summon Unicorns. I had greater magic weapon cast on my arrows and bow and had Divne Favor cast also. It was a Strength bow +4 so there was my damage ability.

by the way the DM in this game is a backup DM the other one is superb. Even in real life he is cranky and moody like he constantly needs a nap and coffee. This is the best group in my town, so far.
I have posted for players on the gamers seeking gamers no response yet.

Yes there were poor choices made and I was doing some drunken rambling in my first post. We were not warned to stay away from this guy, only the DM kept reminding us that the module was intended for a party of 6 3rd level characters.

Oh well we did have fun anyway, it did have its moments.
The Ring of the Ram was destroyed when we killed him along with everything but his crown and sword nothing else was left.
His whole body crumbled into ash.

Anyway I am not trying to rant. I am just giving details on the adventure we had.
