DMG II, it isn't all new stuff, and that's just fine!

I don't know. I mean, sure, it might be good. But I assume it'll contain a bunch of stuff I'll never need and flavourless text like the other main three.

If I think like this, when I buy it I'll be pleasantly suprised. If I think it'll rule, I'll only be dissapointed. :D

I like those cramping rules! I haven't seen that much common sence in d20 since the rules for underwater combat.
When I saw them when Underdark was released, I just had to use them for an adventure. I got the okay to use them in a Living Greyhawk adventure that sent the PCs into a meenlock warren.

Meenlocks are Tiny size, about 18 inches tall. Made for lots of angry adventurers, especially those who narrowed their focus into a power attacking two-handed weapon user. Archery focused folks also weren't happy. As I told Judges who ran it, this is a good opportunity to remind PCs that it is always handy to have a dagger or a crossbow handy.

Having had intimate familiarity with these rules in the preview, I knew exactly where they came from. Page 29 of the 3.5 DMG was the only place I found in the core rules that had any sort of ruling for low ceilings, and those are woefully inadequate.

During the playtests of my module, I ended up with some issues that the rules didn't seem to resolve. Specifically, Crawl Navigable spaces and the prone condition. Do the two penalties stack, or do the penalties listed in the Tunnel Constriction table already include the two conditions? I ruled that the two stack, but that made for some more angry players as that resulted in a –12 penalty to attacks with one-handed weapons, plus they lost the ability to threaten adjacent squares. As I said, reinforced the benefit of having a dagger on one's body.

These new rules are going to make players even less likely to want to go into a kobold lair, mwah ha ha ha!

(Although, realistically, the kobolds would have a taller tunnel for transporting captives in and out easily, but it'd be well-guarded, and probably equipped with murder holes and such and treated as though it was a tunnel from outside the warren, so heavy locked/bolted/trapped door at the end, etc.)
