D&D 5E DMG release date pushed back

Sounds good to me. Strangely enough, I almost always consider this sort of news to be good news. I'll hopefully be playing this edition for the next 15 years, and I'd rather have the 3 core books as well done as possible than be riddled with stuff I'll have to change, or rules we will be arguing about and asking questions about for the entire lifespan of the line.

Not that we won't have a little of that in any event. But a couple weeks is well worth the wait for intentional designer focus to attempt to minimize it.

I'm ok with this decision. I'd rather they delay it a couple of weeks and get it right, rather than hit their release date, but release a product that still needed a little more development. For a product that's going to see years of use from me, 2 weeks is minor in the grand scheme of things.

Also, I thought Modrons were square, not round?

I think it's a good decision to delay the release in an attempt to ensure the new DMG is the best it can be.

I'm really enjoying 5E with just the Player's Handbook and the Starter Set (along with my library of BECMI through 3X/PF).

I've already explained to my players that due to changes in the Weave, rules are in flux and are subject to change until the Weave stabilizes. So, a few weeks delay for the DMG doesn't hurt.

As someone else said, I hope to still be playing 5E (with house rules) 15 years from now.

And they are now getting an Internet-full of posts/blogs about people's reactions to the Basic PDF and Starter Set (as well as the PHB and MM), many of whom had nothing to do with the playtest; many fresh eyes are upon the system. Mike Mearls is getting a ton of new feedback from folks who weren't so close to the material before.
For my money I wish they had sent out a post-PH(B) survey and waited for feedback to tweak the DMG.

Maybe that too but by watching the net and using search terms, they can get an idea on priorities through frequency which might be to some advantage.

Monodrones (the lowest case) are spherical (”1 sided ”). Square ones are quadrones (and one of the most common)
