DM's: Highest Level Campaign?

DM's, what is the highest average PC level of any campaign you have ever run?

  • Heh, I have never had a party go into double digits.

  • Low double digits, 10-14.

    Votes: 110 38.5%
  • We almost made it to Epic, 15-20.

    Votes: 64 22.4%
  • We went all the way... Epic Levels, >20th.

    Votes: 63 22.0%

1e/2e, game started at 3rd level ca 1987-8, went to deity level surviving highest PC Upper_Krust's Thrin at I think 121st level by 2000. The nice thing about 1e was I never had trouble challenging such PCs even with perfectly mundane threats.

Voted 'almost made it' but then we are still playing, and even though I can see the end of the world/campaign in the horizon I expect low epic levels before that. At least they should be there to avoid the end of the world :heh:

While it was AD&D1, my last campaign ran for 15 years and the characters were definitely EPIC in many ways at the end. One was a demigod, after all.

Prior to 3rd ed, I used to cap the games about 14/15th, but my last campaign went to 20th. I'm not comfortable with Epic level games as yet, though at some point we will continue with the 20th level guys.

Low double-digits. We've been at it for 22 years but each player has from 5 to 10 characters who they alternate, so we don't progress as high as other groups.

In 3rd edition my campaign has got to low double digits, and the highest level character I've played is very low double digits - this is pretty much because we don't play one campaign consistently all the time, but swap between three or four, playing on a fortnightly basis.

Well, back in the old day, for our AD&D 1st ed campaigns, we used to have characters that got to 36 level or higher using variant rules that we made up. Ah, the glories of getting xp for gold and magic items back in the day.

In 3rd edition, the highest I've seen a party get is 14th level (not counting one-shots) and that was in a Scarred Lands campaign, although my FR campaign is at 12th level right now.
