DnD 4th Edition??? This Is Not A Troll!!

On another thread, I have heard people talking seriously about WotC releasing a

Dungeons and Dragons Fourth Edition

during summer 2003.

Is this true? Or have I fallen victim to a troll?

This was stated by Bugaboo, in a thread started by Bugaboo. Bugaboo, for those that haven't been around very long, is an Advanced Troll with the Jester template applied.

Unfortunately he's been MIA for most of this year, and has only recently returned.

I wish I could fill all you in about EEEE (that's how those in the know say it ), but that darn NDA prevents me from even discussing it.

I think that they will redo the books but the rules will be the same possibly even getting rid of the greyhawk material in the rules and keeping it more generic with at from freelancers.

Well, it they do a 4th Edition, they need to add the magic item slot they forgot in 3rd Edition. Pants, skirt, kilt.

Just think of the great pants releated magic items.

Jeans of Jumping.

Pants of Charming.

Pants of Power.

Kilts of Giant Killing. (Works great with the Bagpipes of Blasting.)



Skirt of Skywalking (For that Star Wars RPG tie-in).

Tell that to the GURPS players. I'm expecting the 4th edition before Steve Jackson or I die...but I'm not sure which.

Well, at least the internal discussions of a fourth edition of GURPS are more than unsubstantiated rumors...

And it was me who said the 4th edition thing in that thread. My first succesful trolll

There was, OTOH, a rumor over a "3.1" edition, with some minor tweaks.

Probably a third edition third print taht would solve some minor problems, but nothing earthshacking...

Not only that, but I was under the impressiont hat 3E was a pretty big creative venture. While they do still have good people, I am not sure they have the manpower to do it again any time soon.

Ummm... actually they have tons of creative talent working for them, for free (sort of)....

They could put together a 4th edition just by collecting are republishing selective OGC......

Not saying they will, just that the "they have no creative talent" comment is wrong because every single d20 company is doing development for them....

(While I may trust WOTC, I do NOT trust Hasbro......)
