DnD 5e: Ready?

They need to fix the Wizard class. I guess they won't fix the Wizard in 4e, but I have some advice concernig the 5th edition.

Every Wizard now has to get his spells by buying 'boosterpacks' Those boosterpacks contain random spells that the Wizard might add to his spellbook. Of course every spell of level 3 or higher is uncommon, and spells of level 5 or higher are legendary.

While speaking of boosterpacks with random items, I think this concept can be applied to all in-game stores. Need new Armor? Buy an armor boosterpack, Need new Weapons? Buy an Weapon boosterpack. It is just great to have an halfing rogue (who wants to buy a dagger or rapier) buying a weapon booster pack and then finding out it contains 6 dwarven Waraxes, 2 Greatswords and 4 halberds.

This can even be applied to the WOTC D&D books itself. "Hey, I found 3 PHBs in my booster pack, does anybody wants to exchange an uncommon PHB for a DMG?"

In case you did not guess it already, I am really waiting for 5e.
Now serious: I hope the next edition(s) will not focus on miniatures and the like too much.

Actually after having not seen some of the top secret playtest ideas for 4e, you will be suprised just how much the wizard has changed. ;)

What 5th Edition really needs is a computerized statblock generator included with the DMG or MM. Further, a rewrite of the various licences should require that in order to use 5E OGC in a product, any new rules presented in that product must be made available as an add-on to the statblock generator. Limiting access to people who purchase the product is acceptable and expected, but with the advent of 5E no DM should ever have to waste time manually creating statblocks again.

By 71st edition, Medieval Fantasy will still be popular, however, "medieval" will have been redefined so that our current era is part of it. Thus D&D 71st edition will feature such anachronisms as a society which has discovered the Internet, television, and psychology, but not the internal combustion engine, nuclear fission, or antibiotics. Horseback Surfing, which allows surfing the Internet from horseback while still controlling the horse, will be a very popular feat, especially for Wizards specialized in the Cyberspace school of magic.

1. Humans, Half-Elves, Elves, Dwarves, and Halflings will be taken out of the PHB as core races and added into the Monster Manual as monster only races. All of the monsters in the MM will be taken out and put into the PHB as core races. Gnomes will no longer exist.

2. One week after 5e is released, 5.25e will be released. Followed by 5.5e the week after, and 5.75e the week after that.

3. "Woman" will now be a core race in the PHB with "Complete Woman" scheduled to be released with special PrC's for the pathetic players.

4. 5e will be referred to as D04...only a 4-sided die is needed to play. No rolls will require more than one 4-sided die. WoTC engineers will be working out a way to make 6e a D01 game.

5. 5e will allow every player to have such a grasp on rules that the DM can never play his game without the players bickering that it's impossible for an NPC to have a particular build or ability, or that what just happened can't happen because there's no rules for it in the books. EVERYTHING will be done by-the-book.

6. All core books will be released as leather bound collectors books, each costing $75. The "normal" non-leather bound versions of the books will be released a year later with corrected errata.....still costing $75 each.

7. 4e players will brag about how great 4e is and they'll never change their versions....5e players are just munchkins who miss out on the "real" way to play D&D.

8. Characters will start out at epic level in the beginning of the campaign and will only see low level if they fail a save on a level drain attack.

9. Miniature makers will gain more fame than illustrators and authors.

10. It will be illegal to eat chips or pizza at the gaming table during a 5e game, and the snacks will be replaced by Soylent Green.
