Anyone know if WOTC is going to release a Gimble miniature (3.5v gnome bard icon), maybe in aberrations set or something?

First rule of DnD Minis:

We do not talk about DnD Minis.

Second rule of DnD Minis:

No Gimble. Ever. Period.

:p

There's no Hennet the sorcerer either. That's one of the few things I don't like about the minis, there's not enough adventurer types.

For completionists. They suddenly have to buy that many more cases to get they minis they want. The net result is that a good portion of the minis buyers will shell out more money.

Ah - it's the opposite, actually.

Aberrations has 20 rares. Under the old system, 2 cases would net you 32 rares, 12 more than needed. Under the new system, 2 cases will net you 24 rares, only 4 more than needed.

Add to this the fact that Wizards have begun seeding the cases to fix wonky distribution patterns (A case of Giants of Legend will give you exactly 3 of each uncommon and 6 of each common), and it's never been better.

Cheers!

Yes, Amurayi does a good job, and has sources I don't have. :)

Incidentally, I think the chances of seeing Gimble in Aberrations to be pretty low - the latest preview is up and shows a Gnome Cleric of Garl Glittergold (thus most likely taking the gnome spot), and a Cleric of St Cuthbert.

There's also a bunch of new D&D Miniatures news updates on my site - you might want to have a look.

Cheers!

I think the red-robed + spear Half-Elf Sorcerer from one of the earlier sets could do the job...

I wouldn't say that there are not enough adventurer types actually, I rather have the impression that they are quite many among the uncommons and rares.

Including today's (Monday) link to pictures of five more minis from the Abberations set! Very cool, Merric. Thanks!

those minis are crap anyway.

my hat of the d02 minis knows no limits.

Hat of Limitless D20 Minis: This appears to be simple pointed wizards hat made of blue cloth and decorated with stars. It opens to a nondimensional space: Its inside is larger than its outside. Within the nondimensional space is a limitless supply of prepainted plastic miniature figures. The hat’s user only has to speak a command word “more” and 8 randomly selected, prepainted, fully assembled miniatures appear within the hat. Drawing a single mini out of the hat is a free action, drawing a handful (2d6) is a move equivalent action. Alternately the user can use a full round action to simply dump the entire contents onto the floor, gaming table, etc. Note that the hat is not capable of producing infinite numbers of minis. There is a cumulative 5% chance each time the Hat is used that its contents will go “out of print” and no longer be available. If this happens, a new set of miniatures will be available 1d4 hours later.
Moderate conjuration; CL 13th; Craft Wondrous Item, secret chest, geas/quest.
1,295 gp

There are also two cursed versions of this item, the Hat of Limitless D02 Minis, which will only produce minis of monsters created before 1978, and a version that producing nothing but crested felldrakes and the same damn rares, over and over again.

I think that, so long as distribution continues to work properly (as it mostly did in GoL), this will be fine. With a decent distribution a completionist should be able to still get a full set in 2 cases, and at a lower cost. Of course they won't have as many duplicate minis for role playing or trading purposes. But if you want more minis for that sort of thing you just buy more packs... Seems like a good deal to me.

I got the letter from gameoutfitter too. I increased my purchase to 3 cases. I figure I'll get all the dupes I want and maybe have some trade-bait left to get me some older figures that I still want.
