DnD on Cold Pizza

I didn't realize they had broadcast that but it doesn't really surprise me. I am amused by the notion of the commentators running down the stats of the PC's:

"Coming into today's adventure, Keremor the Brave is looking UNstoppable! With that new +3 Plate Mail, his AC is quite respectable and he's averaging 24 points of damage per round on a Full Attack. If the dice are kind to him today, don't be surprised to see him gain a level AND walk away with a lot of nominations for Party MVC!"

Now that's some great stuff right there! :)

We don't get ESPN2 here, so I never actually saw the Magic championships.. but I always wondered what sort of commentary there would be. I can just see it... "It looks like Kai 'The German Juggernaut' Budde is opening off his first turn with a land - a brilliant strategic move from this returning heavyweight."

30th anniversary of D&D? Damn, have I been playing that long - it seems not that long ago there was the 25th anniversary. Has 5 years gone that quickly?

At any rate, good to see some postive tube time for D&D. And I am still shaking my head about playing for 30 years now. That means that I have been playing longer than some on these boards have been alive.

Just call me Gramps, I guess.... :p

Longer than I've been alive? You've played long enough for me to live through my life up until a few months ago *twice*.

Heh, well they DO have poker and other things that seem pointless to comment on. C'mon ESPN GenCon coverage! :)

In keeping with the RPG/sports theme:

2004 is the 30th anniversary for both D&D and the San Jose Earthquakes (though the current team doesn't actually trace its roots back to the original Quakes' beginnings in 1974, but instead to the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks' beginnings in 1989, they are somewhat connected - it's a long story).

And of course, I turned three years old in late-1974... damn, I'm old! :(

"Now he's going to his breath weapon. It's not looking good for the PCs. They all fail their saving throws. Oh my, it's a TPK!"

It wasn't all that bad. Most of it was hearing the players talk. The commentators tried to explain to everyone what was going on. I haven't watched them in awhile, but if I recall correctly it was pretty hard to keep up with unless you knew the terms used in MtG.
