Do Diviners make sense as PCs?

I'm a big fan of the healthy use of Permanent Mordenkainen's Private Sanctum. Especially if the BBEG is the "stay in the crypt while the minions nefariously wreak my machinations" type.

IMC significant enemies often have scry wards of various sorts, including scrydemons which are entities that try to rip the mind of the scrying enemy apart. This makes attempting to divine on Sauron directly rather hazardous. To compensate for this, I gave Diviner specialists some extra abilities to do with making their own scry-wards.

If for plot reasons I want to nerf some divination, then what I do is say that the pictures are clouded and come at a million miles an hour, so you cannot make sense of them at this stage. You get lots of glimpses but not full picture. As a result, the PC gets a bunch of re-rolls, or gets flashes of insight throughout the adventure, more than making up for not getting the initial plot-ruining divination to work properly in the first place. As a result the diviners never felt nerfed by DM fiat.
