Do PrC's count towards XP penalties?

Do PrC's count towards XP penalties? I have a Ftr\Asn\Rog that is currently 4/3/10. In light of the change to the Assassin class in 3.5 (gaining the Hide in Plain Sight feat) I want to take the Assassin levels higher. Will I incur XP penalties when I hit 4/6/10? I would appreciate references to support your argument. Thank you!

No, check the WotC 3.5 Q&A board to the thread that Ed Stark specifically stateds that this was left out in error.

3.5 DnD is full of editing mistakes such as this, unfortunately.

Concur. There won't be anything 'official' to point to until the DMG 3.5 errata is published, but there is no doubt that this rule will be included in that errata.

Use WCrawford (as I replied to that thread) as the name and penalty as a keyword search and you should find it readlily. Ed's responces are towards the bottom of the thread.
