OSR Homebrew classes for OSE

That was a misreading on my part. I like systems of class building so that I can get a more accurate idea on how roughly balanced they are when I create a class.

Was this in the complete thief handbook? I recall that one showing how to create a class where they created a thief with illusion magic, a failed apprentice who still mastered some magic to help with their thief skills.
Yes, the 'Lone Wolf Thief' was listed in the Kits section of the Thief's Handbook and directed DMs (and presumably Players) to the DMG to create a new class that was mostly built off of the Thief.

The more I think about it, If I had the Lankhmar stuff back then, I would have been more likely to have more of a Lone Wolf campaign.

You mentioned ACKS. Have you looked at ACKS2 yet?

I was blown away by the extensive Class/Race creation tools in the Judge's book.

I've got the class building rules for ACKs which are pretty extensive and likely the same rules as what's in ACKS 2, so I don't really feel the need to buy the second edition.

Sounds like it!

I haven't done anything with it yet, but plan to make a few Race as Classes in the near future. Is that what you used to generate your class here?

As for the Second Edition, I only had the core book of ACKS, so getting this 1400 pg, full-color behemoth of a game has me pretty floored. Have only read through the Player's Guide, but pretty certain this will absolutely be my "long-campaign" system and Shadowdark will be my "short-campaign" one.

Yep, used the class building guide to get the basic xp costs for the class and balance abilities somewhat. It's a pretty good system and I like the way they add in the racial abilities of elves, dwarves, etc as a way to get the final level of the class, though I'm likely to use separate race/class instead of race as class with the human racial abilities from OSE making them great leaders.

Content-wise, I think it'd be great if that's your first intro to it, but I really don't like the colour aesthetic they went with (they started updating Axioms, I opted to keep the originals I had rather than updating), much prefer the black and white.

There should be hundreds of High-OSR era alternate classes written up for B/X or equivalent on the blogs of the era ('12 - '14 or so) but I can't currently find the curated list that I think Renaldo (guy who published BREAK recently) kept on his old blog. A google search for the sort of class you are looking for should work.

Here's one of my conceptual faves from Against the Wicked City (though it is somewhat impractical in play):
I would love to be seeing a compiled list such as you mention. I am always been looking for more OSR style classes.
