Do Weapons Allow Spell Resistance?

Some weapons have spell-like effects, such as "Disruption (Undead). Will Save DC 14 or be destroyed."

If hit by this weapon, would the target be allowed its Spell Resistance?

Hmm, I thought the answer would be 'yes'.

Only spells and spell-like abilities are subject to spell resistance.

Why should it matter if the spell-like ability is coming from a weapon, person, scroll, ect?

Unless something like Disrupt Undead wouldn't be effected by SR no matter what the source.

Because weapon enhancements are neither spells nor spell-like abilities.

Think of it this way: Spell Resistance prevents the weave of a spell from fully binding around the one who has Spell Resistance. In the case of a weapon enhancement, the weave of the magic implemented is already complete, and is therefore not subject to the disruption of the target's Spell Resistance. Disruption and disrupt undead are not quite the same, after all.

I thought that the answer should be "No."

In a similar fashion, most ranged touch spells don't allow SR, but they do allow saving throws.

Depends on how exclusively you read:
SAVING THROWS AGAINST MAGIC ITEM POWERS
Magic items produce spells or spell-like effects.

If you read it as "Anything produced by a magic item that permits a save is a spell or spell-like effect", then presumably Disruption is one or the other. If you read it as "There are some magic items that produce spells; in addition, there are also some magic items that produce spell-like effects", then the statement in isolation doesn't tell you whether or not there are things produced by magic items which are neither.

I never thought about it before. I wouldn't think they would in most games, like RPGA.
Though, thinking about it for a moment, I don't know why not. It looks like by RAW they should be subject to SR. At least IF there are any weapon effects that are subject to spell resistance. Do you have another example of an effect that would possibly be subject to SR?

Greater magic weapon and disrupting weapon are not subject to SR.

Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object)

This spell makes a melee weapon deadly to undead. Any undead creature with HD equal to or less than your caster level must succeed on a Will save or be destroyed utterly if struck in combat with this weapon. Spell resistance does not apply against the destruction effect.
Unless I am mistaken, the Spell Resistance is for when you cast on an intelligent item. Not that the weapon once enhanced is subsequently subject to caster level checks.
