Do you game in Greyhawk?

Yep. But old-school.

yup, old school. i'm currently refereeing an OD&D(1974) campaign. so it includes parts of all the major settings plus homebrew. Greyhawk( ala Gary Gygax), Greyhack (ala the time after they kicked Gary and Rob), Gary's Wurld ( Kenzer's version of KotDT), and more...

I recently picked up the GH Gaz, the LG Gaz, and those issues of Dungeon with the big map of the Flanaess.

I've decided to take GH for a while to have a break from DL, and I am sure that while I'll be fairly accurate with whats written there will be some changes (no racial deities for a start, plus a couple new ones taken from Frostburn...etc). Setting wise it will be the same I think.

I'm looking forward to it.

Yes.

I play in one FR game, one Eberron game, three Greyhawk games (one online) and the new game I'm starting up will be Greyhawk (classic mods updated to 3.5; core rules only).

I was wondering how many of you game in the 'generic' DND world of Greyhawk?

I've never gamed in Geyhawk and I will never GM in this seting.
The reason for me is very simple:
I don't fell home there.

I'm not certain I've ever played in Greyhawk, to be honest with you. To me, "old school" means homebrew, because that's how we always did it, and that's how we assumed everybody did it. Now, I don't have much interest in the setting. I wouldn't want to play any long-term campaigns there, I don't think.

I use the old Greyhawk gazatteer in my campaign which is settled in the Ulek/Keoland area.

My version of Greyhawk is mixed. I use old stuff as well as the new. I don't really pay attention to following the timeline of events as written in the official material. Anything is fair game to be included in the campaign. However, the only published sources I have to draw from are the old gazatteer, Roger Moore and Ann Brown's (I think) books, LG Gazatteer and the D&D gazatteer.

I think the reason that I like Greyhawk is because it was the first published campaign for me. At the time it was the only published campaign setting I think (back in '80-'81). Whenever I open up the old maps I just get this excitement thinking about what it would be like to explore the areas. The juices start to flow and campaign ideas pop up out of nowhere.

Also, there is a lot of fan and unpublished source material on the net. Some of the "fan material" is of dang good quality too.

I'm DMing Greyhawk right now setting the initial campaign in a massive war between Iuz and Furoundy with the PC's serving for a mercenary company on the Furoundian side. I'm taking increadable licence with the various nations around the world. For example Iuz has reformed his army using creatures of my own creation (the reths from daemonforge for those of you who remember that) and the PC's are right now en route to Highfolk to a fortress monastary of Heronious to enlist their aid in breaking a seige around the Furoundian Capitol.

I DM primarily in Greyhawk right now. I use the LG Gazetteer and the D&D Gazetteer. Oddly, I never once played Greyhawk until 3rd edition. For OD&D I used the Known World (Mystara later), for 1st ed it was only homebrew and a brief foray into Dragonlance. 2nd ed was all homebrew and Al-Qadim.
For some reason I really bought into the idea that 3rd ed was somehow a return to D&D's roots. Mechanically, no. But I really wanted the "feel" of D&D to be there, so I decided to go as D&D as it gets - Greyhawk.
One of my current campaigns is pretty standard Greyhawk, Core only, using the adventure path as a framework (also adding elements of Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil). The other I run the characters are all built from Savage Species (to fully indulge my players, and hopefully get it out of their system), it takes place to the west of Flanaess among the ruins of the Suel and Baklunish empires. I try to make this campaign feel very different, so I use monsters almost exclusively from MM2 (as a challenge to myself). It turns out to be a very fun campaign.
I am contemplating Eberron as a future possibilty, or one of the many homebrews I have, um, brewing in my head.

I am currently a player in a Greyhawk campaign, and I am preparing to DM a campaign in Greyhawk.

I have tried to put together my own homebrew word, but I just can't seem to get it the way I want it. It always starts to bear a remarkable resemblence to some other published campaign world, so I just go back to Greyhawk.

I've tried Forgotten Realms and it felt a little too high magic for my group. I tried Birthright, and though I liked it, my crew had such a hard time with the pronunciations we just drifted away. I own The Karameikos box set, but I haven't ever tried to run a game in it.

I guess Greyhawk just kind of feels right to me because I cut my teeth on it and have not had much luck with other options.
