Do you like Wayne "WAR" Reynolds?

What do you think of Wayne Reynolds's D&D artwork

Forked from the thread about the 4e covers, from which these two comments were taken:

I especially love that they got WAR to do them.

Plus I absolutely hate WAR's style.

De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum.

There's no doubt WAR is very popular, and WotC and Paizo have called him a lot lately, for magazine covers, Eberron books covers, monster illustrations, DM screens, and a lot more stuff. And yes, the D&D 4e covers that we were shown.

But there's also plenty people who seem to dislike his art, so I wondered just how popular he is (at least on EN World).

If you don't have a solid opinion on his work, you can look on his site for his galleries.

I'd put myself squarely in the middle.

There's a ton of his stuff that is great and evokes a wonderful action.

But sometimes the poses just get a little too wild and the proportions TOO exaggerated.

I like WAR's work a lot, and having seen the (tiny) originals in person, my respect for his madness... er, talent... only increased.

The problem is, since he's so good, the 4e covers are far from being his finest work.

I love WAR's work. I'd like to see higher resolution images of the PHB, MM, and DMG though before deciding what I think about them.

I love it. It's dynamic, colorful, in-your-face at times... it evokes fantasy, wonder, and epic battles. It makes me want to play. I can't think of a better compliment, honestly.

I like his style. Very dynamic, if a little cartoony. What I noticed is when he draws a humanoid, almost every time, the creature's left foot will be the one in front.

I quite like his style. It's not my favorite, but at least it's clear and dynamic.

Edit: I was wrong about the boots being so pronounced. Was that a different artist, or has WAR changed his style in that regard?

He's one of many artists whose work I generally don't love, but where nonetheless I can always find one or two pieces I quite like.
