Do you need a character concept?

Ok, so I died. Again. Anyway, the session is starting in a little bit, and I need a neat new shiney character concept. Anyone care to toss an idea my way?

Edit: This thread is (hopefully) going to be an idea mine for character concepts. If you find it useful, give it a boost by posting your own idea, however odd it might be. :D

Neat idea, but the DM's world basically has no gods. Basically. The explanation would take longer than I have, and even I don't understand it totally.

More information?

Some more details might help. Like...

Campaign setting?
Existing group makeup?
Starting character level/s?
Current/likely adventure/s?

I always find it helps me to think "who would be willing to risk their life fighting for this cause with this group?"

Crunching numbers is easy, creating characters takes some thought.

Alright, fair enough, Errant. THe campaign setting is a homebrew. The group is basically on a final death march/suicidal attack against a wizard of rediculous power known for wielding an artifact capable of disintigrating just about anything. Some rod or some such thing. The group is high level - think Piratecat's group, if that helps. Not as much backstory, though. ::scowl, envy, etc.:: :) Anyway, the new character would be aout 14th or 15th level. We've got a samurai/fighter-type, a ranger, a wizard, and a monk. We'll be heading towards the frozen tundra of the far north soon, and the group is in a jail right now. I missed last session, but one of the other guys mentioned that they got captured. Why, I've got no idea.

I was considering a githzerai Savant. Like Tetsuo, only more "Please don't hurt me. Just let me be. Really, I'd like you to stop. No? You won't? Ok, but don't say I didn't warn you. *BOOM*"

Well I have a cousin (who I do't really claim) who made a fighter who was a Sadist and had to make saves or lose control in the fight.

An archer.

Seems like the safe way to confront a guy with a dohickey that can turn you into dust - from a distance.

Either that or go with something with extremely high fortitude saves.

Or do both - a dwarven fighter/rogue with archer specialties and toughness/fortitude related feats.

Does your world still have divine magic from other sources? Considering the location, an ice-themed druid may be fun. Of course, if there is no divine magic, then that won't help much.
