Do you need a character concept?

I've got one:

You character is a duergar.

However, you aren't like others of your kind; you despise their evil ways, and fled your subterranean home.

You fight with two light picks, and have a figurine of wondrous power that turns into an 8' boar.

You eventually were trained as a defender of the wilderness by an old deaf man.

Society shuns you because of your race, but you are fiercely independent and do what's right because it's right, not to earn their favor.

Your father was an outcast anemic Drow Lawyer with a grudge against the mob. Your mother was a bulimic EZBoard Invading, Planescaping, Scorpion King Watching Grell.

After a steady diet of raw meat and marlboro cigarettes, you had to have your voicebox removed, but you developed the power to cause spontaneous heart attacks in elderly wizards. You Are:

Meat-Trachiotomy Man!!!!!!!!!!!

Now GO! USE YOUR POWERS FOR GOOD!

If the wizard's schtick is disintegrate, do the Counterspeller - wizard Abjurer works well for this concept, Dispel Magic, Greater Dispel, Antimagic Field, and Spell Turning are relevant spells, and memorize the evil dude's preferred attack spells like Disintegrate.
The RP concept is that the character specializes in removing bewitchings, enchantments, ensorcelments, etc. plus some kind of "bitten by wizard as child" backstory. He/she/it despises magic use generally and studied wizardry for the sole purpose of opposing magic.

Here is an idea I had this very night.

You were a powerful and naughty warlord who subjugated all lands surrounding your fortress on the sea. Mighty adventurers at the head of a great army came and took back the lands you stole and after a fierce battle your body was tossed into the see battered and broken.

A short time later your found washed up on the shore north of the lands you once held still clinging onto life. Found by locals you were nursed back to health over a long period of time.

Ok, now there are two ways to go with this:

Option A: The trauma has majorly changed your personality and left you with amnesia, you remember little of your former life, however you'll probably find out more soon enough as you were quite infamouse.

Option B: You know exactly who you are, but the kindness shown by the ones that found you and nursed back to health has caused you question your view on life, and now you've decided to try to even the karmic scales a bit. However you'll have to be careful, afterall you were quite infamouse in your past.

I now fear you, Nightfall.

As it turns out, I ended up making an albino, laboratory-raised failed experiment of a 12 year old boy. The DM made me tenth level, though. :( That one confused me quite a bit. We'll see how long I last, and if psionics work well in his world. Thanks for the ideas, everyone. Perhaps we could turn this thread into a concept mine? One simple rule, that anyone reading the read would be asked to post one idea of their own every time they checked it.

::shrug:: I'll know if anyone agress if the ideas keep flowing in. I'll start. How about a half-orc waffle chef who travels the world seeking great centers of culinary culture to test his/her recipes. Also possesing of many fighter or monk levels, just because it would be neat to have a spatula/waffle iron fight scene.

Spooky. I planned on posting the following before I read the above:

A female halfling monk who is a chef without peer who was once a Sacred Oven Guard of Yondalla, but all of her sisters were killed by Evil Dudes. She now walks the earth, looking for adventures and cooking gourmet meals for the poor and dispossesed. Of course, she has taken a vow of chastity that she will only break with the male halfling who can defeat her in an Iron Chef contest.

And, yes, that really was one of my characters way back when.

:D

Not quite as exciting as some of the others, but a friend and I are planning to run a brother and sister duo in our next game. He will be playing a half-elven druidess, with an elven father and a human mother. They lived together in the forest not too far from the elves, but they were not members of the elven village because the folk frowned on the relationship.

Then a band of orcs came along and attacked; the elf father was killed and the human mother was raped. My character was born of that assault, becoming a half-orc barbarian. I was raised by my sister, who is determined to get revenge on the orcs for their actions. My sister half hates me for my orcish blood, and manipulates me. We kind of figure that my barbarian rages might be drug-induced by her. She's not very nice, but nobody realizes it most of the time, because they're too busy being afraid and suspicious of big, hulking, stupid me.

Nice change from my current halfling rogue/shadowdancer Buttercup and his current naive paladin of Pelor Archimedes Obliviax.
