I am just constantly amazed...

...that so many people play WoW. Seriously. I've looked at it back when and didn't like it. In fact I hated it. I don't like online or computer RPGs at all for that matter. For me, the personal interaction is the thing: bad jokes, gut-wracking munchies and everything.

Am I the relative man in the wilderness on this?

Not at all. I don't play PC games at all, and only occasionally play console RPGs. I play pretty much anything by BioWare but that's about it.

I play 4e for what it's worth, and could care less how much or how little of it is supposedly like an MMO. Its a fun game and thats all I care about.

I'm not a WoW guy...

...but if there are things in that game, or any game (board, RPG, computer, or whatever) that can improve my D&D game, sign me up. I'm not haughty.

I don't play WoW because I've seen the same thing happening with my friends who play it that happened with them when we played Everquest.

They have become people who can only cease talking about WoW for a very short period of time.

Which is to say, when they are into these MMO's, they become those terrible gamers at parties who can't shut up about their characters.

Nobody plays WoW. That's why it has taken over the world. ;)

I tried it. I liked Guild Wars better. But it was still fun. I prefer face-to-face gaming--rpg or boardgame.

I personally don't have much interest in online RPGs at all. I simply can't justify their expense (pretty large) vs. my enjoyment of them (which is small).

I play WOW. I don't really consider it an RPG but its a fun game. Its not a substitute for FTF gaming at all but its something that my wife and I enjoy playing together.

WOW is a completely different experience from a game with live friends. Thats why its irratating when elements from it try and creep into the tabletop games ( I'm looking at you magic poop).

Why so surprised that some people like WoW and other computer games? You don't, others do, so what? Heh, besides, you can get personal interaction and plenty of bad jokes when playing WoW, it is a multiplayer game with integrated text chat, and a lot of players use third-party voice chat software when they play also. And you can supply your own gut-wracking munchies . . .
