At the moment, yes, although general I've got my mind on a lot of d20 games, including True20, d20 Star Wars, and other d20 games.

Y'know, I've participated in several of Mark's recent threads. I'm not sure what he's doing, but I find this poll to be the most interesting.

With the current results showing, that 30+% of players responding only play D&D is amazing to me...even though that accurately describes 3 of the 12 people I'm gaming with right now.

And that remaining 60+% doesn't exclude D&D players, obviously. Further proof that D&D is the 800lb gorilla of the RPG industry...

And in my eyes, further proof that some people out there need their horizons broadened! :D

Um, the sample is even more skewed by the forum [than merely doing it online would skew it]. EnWorld started out as a D&D3E forum, branched out into D&D-supporting D20 System and a bit of AD&D (mostly as context), then further expanded to deal with all D20 System stuff, and only recently has become even an approximation of a general-RPG forum. It's still pretty much a D&D/D20 System forum. You walk into a room full of people who've all come there specifically to talk about D&D, and you're surprised that nearly all of them play D&D? Now, try asking the same exact question at, say, RPGNet, and see what respsonse you get.

No. I play to socialize with friends, solve mysteries and puzzles, fight monsters, work out tactical situations, role-play, enjoy game set-ups and miniatures, build and level-up characters, have a good laugh... bottom line, to have fun with my friends.

RPGs mix many aspects of gaming into one hobby. Not just acting.

Good gods, no! D&D is merely one tool in my arsenal. I have (and will) work with Marvel Superheroes, Deadlands, Shadowrun, GURPS, Paranoia, the various World of Darkness games, and others. I also play in the occasional larp.

For me, sticking to one game would be like sticking to only one musical artist, or eating only one kind of cheese. Even if it is good, there's a wide variety available out there. And even if that means you run into the occaisonal limburger or Celine Dion, it winds up worth the experience...

Right now, yes. When my current main campaign comes to an end, tho, I'm thinking I may go back to HERO and if that loses me players, so be it.

We usually play:

D20 Modern (a couple of different settings)
Mutants and Masterminds
d20 Star Wars
Alternity
Deadlands/Hell on Earth

But I really, really miss playing D&D though.

Every now and then i really miss playing D&D. The last time that hit me, i played D&D3E. If that'd been my only experience with D&D i never would've loved it in the first place--yech. This time around, i was the GM (rather than a player), so i could pick how to scratch my D&D itch. I chose Arcana Unearthed, and am loving it. Our next game will be rules-lite space opera. But i already know that my next D&D itch will be fulfilled by Iron Heroes + Psychic's Handbook + Tome of Magic + Magic of Incarnum + Encyclopaedia Divine Shaman + Radical Re-Alignment + a couple other bits.

Generally, however, i don't miss D&D. I miss my highschool gaming group (especially the cute redhead) and i miss my college gaming group (but really for the people, not the game itself), both of which were D&D groups. The games i miss playing are Ars Magica and Over the Edge and Underground and W:tA and Deadlands. Particularly Ars Magica and Over the Edge.

In the last year, I've played pretty much D&D with some Warhammer through in. Snuck some Mutants & Masterminds 1st ed in there too. Need to get those second eidtion rules down.

Some of my friends ran a short HARP campaign. They were too used to D&D and suffered a TPK pretty quickly. Now that Cyradon is in print, they may start that up again.

Right now the answer is yes, as we have 3 different D&D campaigns going on. This has not always been so, however, and I seriously doubt it will be true in the future. Someone will bring back Deadlands or Call of Cthulhu or Star Wars or something. I threaten to run a Mage game all the time (the rest of my group is not, um, White Wolf friendly). I'd like to play in a Fading Suns game, but uh, that's another game that has scarred some folks.
