IME, Most threads average ten views per post. Heated discussions and polls usually can run double that or higher.

I'm not talking about post/view ratio. I'm talking about vote/view ratio. I find it quite low in this case.

And I still haven't voted.

I think I probably fall under the "no' category. I don't "prefer" a cinematic combat system.

I do enjoy a cinematic combat system. However, I also enjoy a tactical combat system (my one big gripe about Heroquest). So, what I prefer is a little from column A, a little from column B and a bit from column C.

I see. Thank you for your insight. I'll try to keep an eye on that and make some comparisons when I get the chance.

That's certainly your right, as is being vocal about your right, IMO.

Because most people don't really have a problem with binary polls as made plain by the number of people voting in past binary polls versus those who post to discuss whether or not there needs to be more options. I've just looked over my past polls and it is generally the same people who take exception to having only two options. There are even a few people who post rather long answers that, when boiled down, really do fit one or the other response. Plus, the poll is as much to allow lurkers, who prefer not to post at all, the chance to voice an opinion without increasing the post count above zero. Posting or not, in conjunction or in lieu of the poll, all comes down, I suppose, to whether or not someone feels comfortable with the general definition of cinematic.
Oh, I don't mind the binary poll.

I'm just wondering why there is a poll at all, when "cinematic" isn't defined - the results don't mean anything, and are just a random collection of numbers.

Of course it is defined. Most people don't have a difficulty with the general definition of the word cinematic so the numbers mean plenty enough to most people.

i voted no.

but i do prefer some description from those participating.

not that saying " I draw my grandfather's sword and aim for the exposed part of the orc's belly and swing with all my might" should change the roll of the dice. i don't want extra bonus or penalty. i want straight roll = score on a table to see if it penetrates enough to cause harm.

Not really.

I think the system and the style of combat are mutually exclusive. Cinematic combat in my experience relies more on the imagination and descriptive skills of the players than on the rules system in use.

all of which are using vastly different definitions of what "cinematic combat" actually means. The crazy part is that I can agree with all of them at the same time, because their definitions are different, even if our votes aren't all the same. That's why the poll seems off. Two people can agree on everything, but depending on their definitions, will vote differently. If you defined "cinematic combat" in the initial post, then the results would mean something.
