Do you still have a copy of Neverwinter Nights 1?

Well, that was fun

I was just playing with the toolset, and in this age of Facebook games and mobile device apps and the like, it hsan't aged too badly. It's even fashionable again, since it's 3E (so you can squint and pretend it's Pathfinder), not 4E.

I just whipped togather a little hamlet with a few buildings, one guard, and some stirges over the bridge to the south. The toolset is actually MUCH better than the NWN2 one - at least in terms of ease-of-use.

I still have it, haven't looked at in ages though. I was part of a team doing a conversion of Dark Sun that never really got anywhere. I coded a lot of the psionics system before the group/fell apart.

I've heard of people using it with a projector to do a tabletop battle map. I want to put that together some day.

I still have it, though since I quit video games I cannot play it.

While all of our tabletop needs might be satisfied by the Pathfinder Game Table, it would still be nice to see a 5e spiritual successor to the Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 that makes 3D illustrations possible.

I still have it. Unfortunately I finally got around to getting the Diamond set because I hadn't gotten any of the expansions previously. Took the original off the new computer (it was on the old one and transfered over just fine) and discovered that the new one wouldn't work. Then I tried to reinstall the original... same deal.

Diamond edition's the one I'm using. There's a couple of things you have to do to get it to run on a modern setup.

My brothers and I played it online weekly until recently in one of the persistent worlds. We only stopped because one of our computers died. Unfortunately I don't think the newer Macs can run it anymore.

I have it installed on my computer, but haven't been playing it too much. There are some compatibility problems in Win 7, and this is a pretty weak computer so it doesn't run the game very well. Also, I've gotten hooked pretty strongly on Dwarf Fortress, so I've mostly been playing that these days. The toolset is still the best part of the game, and people are still making custom content for the game. I've been tweaking the original modules a little bit to add material from the expansions and stuff too. Eventually, I'm going to get around to adding the horses from 1.69 to the original campaign.

Some tips would be appreciated. (I'll probably screw them up, but that won't be your fault. ;))

I can't remember - I got it from gog.com, and they ahd a opage telling me to do a couple of things. Update drivers, obviously; and some kind of special (little) windows compatibility update whose name escapes me but was available from Microsoft's site.

This was on Windows 7. Didn't work before, but worked perfectly after following the instructions.

I just wish I could remember what they were!

Edit - here we go:

Please try installing the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. You can find the installer here. You will have to extract the files into a selected folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation. Many problems can be fixed by installing the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. Some older games aren't compatible with the libraries included with current releases of DirectX and this package should help. You can find the installer here.

[Windows Vista/7 only]Turn off UAC (User Account Control). Click here for instructions on how to do this. Ideally, you should then uninstall the game, and reinstall it by right-clicking the installer and selecting "Run as Administrator".

There are some technical issues with the BioWare multiplayer servers. We are doing our best to sort this issue out as soon as we can.

Some systems may experience stability issues when "Shiny water" is enabled. Please try disabling this setting in the the game's options.
