Do you take gaming awards seriously?

Not to mention that the original "we're too cool to believe in awards" podcasters quoted by the OP were a lot more keen on the ENnies until they were forcibly removed as a nominee from the ballot, once upon a time in a "scandal" (and that's the term "scandal" in air quotes) several years back. (it wasn't all that scandalous, in hindsight)

Seems like somebody got "too cool" for awards after that event, if you ask me.

Everyone who might be, (or who is, in fact) nominated plainly cares somewhat about the ENnies. This is for the very good reason that you don't get nominated for an ENnie unless you deliberately choose to submit your product for consideration in the first place. If you are a podcaster, chances are very good that you care about winning an ENnie. I certainly know the nomination was a big deal for us and I'd be lying through my teeth if I said we don't care if we win or lose.

While that does not ensure that all nominees think as I do, I expect that most of them do.

The Ennies staff objected to the implication that the Ennies encourage people to vote "early and often" in one episode. The staff of the Ennies requested that FTB voluntarily withdraw their nomination. This resulted in many threats and insults being levelled at the Ennies staff and the FTB people requesting that this come to an end in the next episode.
