Ive been posting this any place I can find
.
Ive seen alot of talk about this on the board, both awhile ago and more recent.
Charles & Company did a great job designing the rules to adapt The Wheel of Time to the D20 System. Many people were not Entirely happy with the way certain things were done, but like with all RPGs, you take what you like and replace the rest with your own content. Thats fine, all RPGs have 'house rules' and so forth. I wouldnt have made some of the mechanics the way Wizards did, but despite that, they still did an Excellent job.
Unfortunatly, like most Wheel of Time related products (not including the Novels themselves), the RPG is totally unsupported.
The first printing of many books, always have typoes and errors that were not intended to plague the book. There were a hefty amount in The Wheel of Time RPG book, many that made it more difficult to understand some of the mechanics of the game. Poorly worded rules and many other problems. Even the Character Sheet in the book has errors on it, and they didnt bother fixing the mistake when they posted it on thier website.
I have not had a chance to look through my copy of The Prophecies of the Dragon yet, but from what I understand, the people who wrote the NPCs didnt even follow the mechanics of the game to make them, instead just combining random #s to form a character that doesnt even fit within the system itself. Im sure there was also a # of typos, but Ive not heard mention of too many yet.
All this comes down to the fact that Wizards has some talented game designers, but poor editors. And on top of that, Wizards obviously doesnt give a hoot for its patronage. We give you money Wizards, and look what we get in return, unsupported, incomplete books plagued with a multitude of types and mistakes, and no intention of changing that fact.
Frankly Im suprised thier Wheel of Time webpage is even up still, why even sell the books? To treat your WoT customers so poorly, you must think we dont buy your books.
Im sure a few dedicated fans would be willing to find all the typoes and errors they can and send them in so you could fix them and reprint the books, so then you would sell more. Could you at the very least release an OFFICIAL Errata list and possibly correct the mistake(s) on the Character Sheet PDF?
