Do you use a computer program (such as DM Genie)? (poll)

Not alot now (Adobe reader and MSWord) but I LOVED D&D Core Rules 2.0 back in the day. I really wished E-tools was more like that.

Anyone got a good free map program that doesn't require CAD to use (something like the mapper in Core Rules?)

All of my campaign info, character sheets, stats, maps, etc. are in Excel. Easy way to keep track of hit points, spells, DCs and equip... but takes a ton more prep time than paper. Also handy in the middle of combat when I need to roll a massive amount of dice during an epic encounter that's already dragging... enter the number of and die type, hit the page refresh, and I've got a new set of rolls and totals.

I also keep Media Player open in the background, the players love the music (specially for combat) and actually complain when I forget about it.

MSWord for adventure outlines, notes and documents

None of the other programs have seemed to be worth the bother, especially when I have pens, pencils, loose-leaf and spiral binders, and my imagination

MS Word and (rarely) Excel. I also have Publisher and some of the other Office apps but haven't utilized them for my game so far. I'm considering using Publisher to create a 1 page newspaper for a city my players are visiting soon.

I've recently been playing with DM Genie and I can easily see how this would improve my game if I brought a laptop (actually I don't own a laptop, I own a desktop, but my mom has a laptop I can borrow for games. :p) I will be trying it in-game for the first time later this month, I just need to get more aquainted with the program first.

I like PCGen with DMGen but find DM Genie to be a more wholesome solution. But PCGen is free so no complaints. :)

One of my players is a die-hard eTools user. I used it to generate my Warforged Artificer for his upcoming game. I found it to be mostly everything I could want in a character generator but, again, I feel I'm more of a DM Genie kind of guy!

For maps, I either hand-draw or paint digitally in Photoshop. Sometimes a combination of both methods.

I don't use any RPG software. I do use Word to write stuff up (including stat blocks), and Powerpoint to create counters (using pictures I've downloaded from the web, mostly from MtG cards and WOTC's art galleries, as well as Counter Collection Digital), but I don't use anything like PCGen or eTools.

Word an Excel to write and keep track of info.

ETools to stat up everything (and in the new stat block format, woo hoo!)

Open RPG to play online.

Dundjinni for maps.

Paint Shop Pro to create tokens and tiles and pictures.

Firefox to browse ENWorld. ;)

DM's Familiar, HeroForge, Excel, Word, CC2, Fractal Terrains, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat. I've used a few other things that never stuck. These have been valauable in running a complex dungeon like RttToEE. I'm not sure how one could run it as a living environment without some sort of computer help. It's also proving to be very useful as I get ready to relaunch my homebrew.
