Im glad this poll is introducing people to the contest. Its a lot of fun and my ego is partially deflated after getting my first critique. I got notices for the best use of an ingrediant and worst opening paragraph.

I have never stolen ideas from the entries to use in my campaigns, but I found reading useful in guiding my game, even before I enterered. Perhaps stronger hooks would help, or hooks that were specific but not required. The adventures are often twisted by the needs of getting so many odd ingridants into the plot, but that is also the source of much brillance.

As a 1st time contestant, now going on to the 2nd round, I chose "Other." Athough honestly, I never read one of the threads before. I was aware of it, and what it was, but just didn't have the time. Its really interesting. I have heard of SJgames doing it before, taking 3 gurps books at random and then having people run a con game with them. While my first entry was by no means a great example of my work, it is a bit like improvisational theater (having done that too) and you just have to go with it and not look back. Its fun, and I would encourage anyone willing to try and sign up next time around. Fair warning, the judge(s) take the Iron Chef bit to heart, and just like on the show you can read a review and think "oh well maybe next time" and then discover that you won. It can be brutal. If thats not for you just check it out and maybe "play at home" and see what you can do. I'd be kind interested in seeing what other people can come up with, personally I was very intrigued by the "ethereal corset" ingrediant in one of the other matches.
