In the game I run, psionics takes the place of more traditional Arcane magic. This means, no Wizards, Sorcerers, or traditional Bards. So far (at level 4) it has posed no problems, and I think has made the game more interesting, although the players are just discovering that one NPC race has sorcerers...

Not only do we not currently use psionics I have never played a single game of D&D (any edition) where psionics have been used. Don't ask me why is not that anyone particularly hates psionics its just that no one has seen the point of them in the D&D world. One type of magic is enough.
I've had a similar situation. We used psionics back in Dark Sun for a few runs but that didn't last long. I wasn't impressed by the PsiHB, borrowed it from a friend. I could see using it in a Sci-Fi setting or even a Modern one, but not in my current campaign. Maybe in the future... :)

Yes i do use them.
I personally think that psionics can fit into any campaign. Also just because Toliken and other early fantasy writers didnt use psionics dosent mean that they cant fit into a fantasy world. I love the flavor that psionics brings to the table. Granted im not too crazy about certain aspects of the system (psi combat can burn in the 9 hells  ) but overall i like the system. Maybe its just something about playing a character that dosent have to worry about his supply of sulphur and bat guano.:)

I love that concept... do you have a storyhour?

Sorry, nope. But, I do have a .pdg I could send you (~15 pages) that outlines the setting and gives the rules alterations that I use. It's not that well written (:( ), but gets the idea across.

BTW, on the subject of d20 Modern, I recomend Ken Hood's Skills and Feats psionics system to the PsiHb one, because it does not require advanced classes, and has a more 'gritty' feel.

I use psionics and love them. I would also be very happy with many more types of supernatural power.

P.P. I believe that may who don't like psionics would see this thread as a way to express their opinion, so the results won't be skewed.

The longer this thread goes, the less skewed it will get, I hope!

If you want to rant and rave about Psionics and how stupid they are, here's your chance! :D

Cheers!

There in my game though curently no pcs are psions or psychic warriors.(we had a psion he died) That wont stop me form throwing some psions/psychic warriors/psionic monters at them though.

I don't know why but I've never cared for psionics in a Fantasy game from a "feel" standpoint...I guess it just seems to me that Magic in it's various forms makes a psionics system unneccessary...

From D&D of course the mechanics have never been really "Sound"..admittedly though my "feel" reasoning keeps me from looking at the 3E book much...from what I have seen though, while it's an improvement, it still add some extra complication...as opposed to the only two treatments of psionics I really ever liked: Rolemaster (mentalism) and in Palladium (yes unbalanced, but it worked just like magic)....

So I guess I would prefer a "psionic flavored" spell list as opposed to a new set of rules, classes and whatnot..
