D&D 5E Does 1d4 damage from basic poison (100gp) cause poison condition?

People are adding in a lot of stuff not there.

Very true, especially that a lot of folks seem to be reading in the precedence from all previous editions that the applied poison on a weapon is only good for a single hit. Such a rule is not included in this edition's text* but since it stuck around for so many years, it can be hard to mentally set aside.

Kinda makes sense too since lost HP are now wounds so shallow they will heal overnight.


*Unless it is a "GOTCHA!" rule sitting in the DMG.

Technically, +2 damage for 1 minute with 3 uses is pretty well worth 100gp.
