Heh yeah its marginal.

Cleric/druid is the true power part. Even a 1 level splash can give clerics absorb elements and that new casualty cantrip and a lot of utility 1st level spells. Reverse gives Druids command. A few levels xan vault druid into upper tier damage dealer later tier 2 or early 3
Cleric 1/Druid X also frees druid prepared spells up for something other than healing word and cure wounds, while giving them command. This is good because Druids get many spells they want to prepare and not a ton of prepared spell for them.

Does that count as power gaming? All it does is make someone really good at arcana, it's not a skill which will break the game.
Not that specifically, but deliberately stacking powers and abilities from multiclassing feels like power gaming to me.

Nothing WRONG with that. Not my preference is all.

What about deliberately choosing your single class for its abilities?

You’re not wrong for disliking that, I’m just curious about what the difference is for you.

Singing to the choir;)

What spells from magic initiate would you recommend for the Druid/cleric.

Shield
Tasha’s Laughter
Sleep
Find Familiar

I’ve even considered goodberry just to free up more spells prepared and the extra cast early is great.

Any other ideas?

Any spell that you're going to cast daily is a good candidate. How does Mage Armour interact with Shapeshifting? Would it be worth it?

Ac would be higher of 13 + dex or beast ac.

Though moon Druid gets good ac in beast form in 2024. Formula becomes 13+wis. So probably no improvement for him as Wis should be higher than dex.

At my table I would rule that they don’t stack. Adding you WIS to your Arcana skill feels like a yes/no trigger. Either you ad it or you don’t, but you don’t add it twice.

Someone brought up the Paladin aura as an example, but that’s not equivalent. The Paladin aura allows players to add the Paladin’s CHA as a bonus to their saving throws, not add their own CHA to their existing Charisma saving throw (although I suppose the Paladin adds their own CHA to their existing Charisma save). Furthermore, it explicitly says 2 Paladins’ auras don’t stack, which would be a closer example (although admittedly not the same).

Those are the big ones tbh.

Maybe chromatic orb if you like blasting and make use of bless/faerie fire. Or use hold person a lot. Youre not a sorcerer though. Can confirm its functionally a chain lightning later and upcast lvl4+ its great. Clerics lack an attack spell.

Sleeps not bad on a low level druid ive seen that.

Light Cleric4/Star Druid7+ looks interesting and wouldn't suck to play it out.
