Does DR protect against a Shadow's Str damage?

What the subject says. If a shadow attacks and strikes a creature with, for example, DR 10/magic, will the DR prevent it from causing Str damage. I'm guessing "No". Am I correct?

Yes, you are correct. DR does not reduce ability damage from poison, disease, or drains from undead creatures (DMG, 292)

For protection from Shadows, you need Ray of Enfeeblement.

The last line says that while the spell is in effect your strength cant drop below 1.

This is being far too literal. The strength of a creature can't be reduced below 1 as a result of this spell. This one spell doesn't create a blanket rule that applies to everything that lowers strength.

That is the joke LordAO, and really, in my games I will allow it to work as such. It is just too funny and too creative to not be able to be done

Of course I never tell the pc's this, if somehow they figure it out more power to them.

Hyp, I've seen you do it before, but even before I saw it on the boards I tried to get a dm to allow it in a one shot, joke campaign.. didnt fly but it would've been really cool.. the whol goal of the character would've been to always be effected by the spell and to turn everyone I didnt like into shadows..lol
