Does Leadership work on Animals for a Druid?

Does the feat Leadership work on Animals to gain animal followers? I am a druid BTW

I would have to say no. Followers, as described in the DMG, choose to follow because the PC is someone worth following. Animals would not make such a concious choice due to a lack of intelligence. That is what the Handle Animal skill is for.

Exce[t that the Druid shtick is he ability to commune with nature - plants & animals so IMC I'd make an exception (of create a new feat*) because Druids with lots of animal followers is kewl (much kewler than the current animal cohort they get).

But by the RAW probably not

*Animal Leadership Feat
(Prereq: Must be a Druid, Ranger, Cleric with Animal Domain, or Totem Barbarian (Totem Animal Only))
The Feat works as Leadership Feat but for Animals instead of Humanoids. The Cohort is considered an Animal Companion, followers are normal animals up to the appropriate HD
